What kind of AMG would I get for circa £10k?

Just thinking out loud at this stage, but really got the urge for a proper v8, bags of horsepower and a genuine AMG... Got to be modern 'ish' with some toys, and got to be family sized, so no SL SLK CLKs etc and got to have 2 twin exhausts at the back

What can i get? guessing e55?

If anyone knows of or sees any good stuff for sale, please post up a link, and any advice / tips / pointers would be most welcome too. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'd prefer an e55 over ml55. Is 10k realistic to get something decent in a desirable colour (black ideally) and with a low 'ish' mileage? are all AMG's highly spec'd or do they vary massively?

Yes. You'll get something ok for £10k. It won't be box fresh but it shouldn't be a basket case of a shed.

Thanks Steve. Was there a change from 2004> ?

Anything I should be looking out for?

What should I budget a year for maintenance?

Better paint, better electrics etc. Galvanised body work.

Maintaince wise, you know, £60k V8 saloon thats knocking on for 10years old. Things can go. Have a good £3k to spend a year in tyres/services/ad hoc repairs and you'll more than likely have change left over.

The facelift arrived in late 2004/54 plate and can be recognised by a mesh grill on the dash as opposed to a slatted grill and the introduction of a 200mph speedo.

For £10k you'll be able to get an example of any model AMG you like up to 2004, with the exception of the V12 engined cars.

With children, the ML55 will be practical, and they are incredible value. E55 will get you the most bang for your buck.

Yup, I can wholly recommend the E55K.

Go for as later plate as you can afford...

CL55k for that sort of money..

Nice cars, but I need a proper 4 door / family saloon so looking at E55's. Not overly keen on the ML and there seems to be more E55s on the Market to choose from.
