My cars coming up to it's B service but as I am doing high mileage now and this is the first major service since buying the car I would like to do everything, I have also got a few little niggles to address as the steering wheel is not quite straight, the brake pedal is spongy and the climate control seems to blow slow and never very hot. I have started to make a list, please add anything you think I have missed.

Standard B service
Oil
Oil filter
Air filter
Fuel filter

Extras
Charcoal filter
Brake discs
Brake pads
Brake fluid
Clean duovalve
Clean MAF/MAS (can not remember the name)
Tracking/4 wheel alignment
Rust proof the underside
Gearbox oil and Filter

Thank you, Peter.

Thank you, Peter.

On your car its called a MAS (or air mass)

Some people call it a pollen filter or combination filter.

It filters air coming into the cabin

That's exactly what the charcoal filter does. The dust filter must just be a cheaper version it seems. (unless I'm very much mistaken :D )

The charcoal filter is ONLY there to reduce smells into the cabin not to filter the air.

Air Filters may not be required. You need to do a visual check to see if they are dirty or not.

Brake pads and discs may not be required. or maybe just pads. If doing any of these, suggest new fitting pins/clips.

If replacing brake fluid, suggest new bleed screws x 4.

Engine Sump washer.

G/box sump washer, gasket, and new dipstick tamperproof filler cap. May be worth investing in a MB dipstick also.

Your (non-engine) air filter changes will likely improve the performance of your air conditioning/climate control too.

Why?

Oil filter removal tool. Halfords £4.95.
Torque wrench. 3/8 drive, or half inch drive with a 3/8 reducer socket.

And.... dont spill oil on the mono block paveing drive as I did. (Almost 6 litres of Mobil 1).....Wife still not talking to me.

Anyone know the best stuff to clean this with. So far tried Swarfega drive cleaner which removes oil....never worked, absolutely useless. Boiling water with various detergents,....never worked, bleach 3 gallons, never worked.......................

Any ideas ?

Can't you just open yours with a normal socket?

Result..can I borrow some of your oil..

Jizer, Gunk, petrol or brake cleaner. Any residual staining let the sun break it down.

Not if it's the big plastic oil filter cap ? Do I have visions of the wrong oil filter cap ?

The Mobil 1 has done 2k miles, used oil and smelly. You can have it if you want.

I will try all of these cleaners on the drive way.. better than this silent treatment that I am going through at the moment !
