What private/ personal number plate have got

Vanity plates have never been my thing, but some dear friends gave us AMG123T as a wedding present some fifteen years ago. I suppose I need a w123 AMG estate car to put it on...
so have you had it on retention for 15 years then ??

It is on my wife's SLK, which has been sorn'd for ten years. It didn't really work with two small boys! Perhaps I'll get it back on the road when they leave home. Dear old thing only has 22k on the clock. I bought it new in 2000.

:doh:Note to self don't use speech text on a post ...surely D3ANE is better than S670DGB

I'll get back in the ark in a minute, but in the meantime; S670DGB? Don't give me a clue, please just tell me what it means. Try as I might, I can't get it.

That could get expensive D3ANE was on e bay not so long ago for £10,000 I can get My initials for £139 I prefer investment plates and initials are not a good investment

What's an investment plate?

just my initials ..so you have proved my point no one knows :thumb:

Thanks Deane, so does RH 1 qualify as an investment plate?

I'd say so, do you own it?

HRH 1 might be a better investment though. ;)

No not mine. Just interested as the article Deane linked to featured several number plates which were initials, and I can't help thinking RH1 has gone up in value over the years.

Spookily, I do (loosely) know the owner HRH11

No not worth any thing ...I will give ya £200 for it ...:thumb:...lol I see your point but most people have initials eg V345DGB which are not a good investment

I remember 111 HRH being on an Adenauer that used to come to club meetings - not currently in the road though .

most people wont know its a C350e, they'll just think its a merecedes.
They'll think,if you space it C3SOE is trying to spell something which it doesn't and will think its stupid,
if you space it C 3SO E it'll be the same as above.
if you space it correct C3 SOE it means nothing anyway.

so i think its naff.

I have a few , C4 FEW which was C4FE W (on my ML ) but now spaced as it should be after getting done by the police last year ,,, as a chef and run a restaurant and cafe it was nice to have like that .... Also got EDZ 470 on my SL , was my late fathers number ,,, got GL56JON on retention , was on my 56 plate gl I had new then and my name .... Got MB09CLK on retention too was in my 09 plate clk , and ML55NEW which was on my ML WHEN NEW IN 55 ,,,,
I have got my number plate spaced wrongly, you got me worried now.
So what is the penalty?

Fair enough, I was thinking that they would see the C350e badge and work it out, but either way still think it's better than a standard 65 plate put on by the dealer.

If you can afford it, and you like it, then go for it! :thumb:

Does any one know of any body that has got the fine tho ,all the people I know have either never been stopped or have been told to take it off and put on a plate spaced right

The number of tickets issued for incorrect spacing has dwindled significantly because, among other reasons,
A. the DVLA rarely recall an index number (ban the current 'owner' from using it) as they are entitled to do because it would hurt the business of selling more,
B. the DVLA are still issuing numbers which are clearly going to be abused by chavs with their extra dots and altered letters/numbers because it makes money and
C. a target driven culture within the Home Office/Police means this kind of offence does not attract points on the officer's record of work so rarely gets done….lack of points leads to internal sanctions and potentially dismissal and with dwindling numbers, there is always something more pressing.

CONICA you burst my bubble, I was hoping to enter F1 next year but now you said I would not be able to keep up I won't bother.

I had 430 oo on a Ferrari 430 which was good but definitely a limited market so I sold it with the car.
