Phantom for me - just like this

There's one parked outside our local indian restaurant from time to time. First time I noticed I doubled back to take a look - it made the Range Rover next to it look like a toy - it was huuuuuge!!

Phantom for me too, or something very similar like top-line Maybach or something.

But you can only keep one vehicle, the e-class or the van! So which is it? :)

:D slightly unfair question, but it deserves an answer. We would have to get rid of the E-class.

I have looked at E-class ambulances but there would not be any room for the pooch.

The Sprinter would not fit into any 'normal' sized parking space, and it is not the ideal car type runabout, but needs must. :) In three years our Sprinter has done about 3000 miles. The E-class has done about 8000 in just under two.

The Sprinter would have to stay and the wifes car goes :( :o

Sad but true. Moral of the story - buy lots of cars ! :D

If multiple cars were allowed, then I wouldn't need mroe than 2 cars... (and 2 bikes :P)

- Ferrari Testarossa
- E55 AMG

Bikes:
- Classic Harley of one form or the other
- Ducati 999

In either case, there is one for the pleasureable sunday (sunny) drives/rides and one for the day to day commute (obviously, the ferrari for the commute :P)

I wouldn't need more.... Except for maybe garages to store them in and several houses to remorgage to pay for insurance...

(edit: sorry, I was thinking of a c-class )

I'm surprised you've opted for the Testarossa over their predecessors;

I think the picture of the car parked in a public car park highlights a major problem with owning a 'super' car. The driver has parked allowing enough room to get comfortably out of the car!!!!! We have all witnessed scenes where folks feel aggrieved that someone has encroached into another parking bay. I wonder how many times someone has banged their door against the side of that beautiful car?

Tht original Testa's a bit high off the ground. Is it a secretive 4*4 test model? :D

Yep, allows you to park it with two wheels on the kerb, without the need for an insurance claim ;) .. kinda like the same capabilities as most 4x4's these days :D

Last time I looked most of those items were not that expensive ... is the TT some kind of collectors item ?

I am fortunate to be in the position of being able to buy what I want, which means I waste my money on several MBs. But if I had to just have one car, it would have to be the C320 estate. Its the only car which can actually carry the dog, the family, parents in law, misc purchases (ok, not all of these at the same time) and give a comfortable touring ride and small enough to get around town easily and fling along country lanes.
The fancy cars with low profile tyres and exotic engines are great fun for a day but living with them is a pain. Even Ferraris spend so much time having their services done you need another car to get by with even if you never carry anything but your lover!

I remember once I stopped on the freeway to speak to someone who had broken down. It was an old Fiat that had given up the ghost. After a brief chat I realised that he lived only 5Km away .... so I drove him and his sunburnt kid home (it was a hot day). When he got home the garage door was open and there was a Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and a Mercedes.

I take it that his spare car was the one that died !

For a 20-year old college student, they aren't accessible... (yet)

The testarossa has been a dream since I saw one on this HUGE billboard right infront of my house in Torino... it was some anniversary, and they littered the city with these enourmous scrolls hanging from the arches (if you've ever been to turin, you'll know what i mean - down Via Roma). I managed to get one of those, and it still hangs in my room in Italy.... my dream car, ... one day...

We all have dreams and one day... I'm certain you will fulfill yours.

The Testarossa was one of the worst cars I have ever driven I felt exhausted after, its a beast and I am not just talking about power. Great to look at but had many faults. It put me off the prancing horse for years after.

Hmmm, 24 and no long-term relationship pending....

I'll take a Zonda F, though I'd probably request a permanent posting to somewhere nice and sunny and go for a Zonda Roadster.

Just thought, are we allowed a classic, and then sell it? If so might go for a 250 GTO ( circa $6m). :D

Are you sure that the girl in the billboard isnt what caught your eye and that perhaps you have some kind of pavlovian association with the car ? Those italian girls can redline most mens hearts.

Yup, classic's are okee dokee, you will just simply have to use it as an everyday car, performing all the tasks your current one might perform.

Janner has gone down a similar route. I am trying to find the Mercedes-Enthusiast magazine that reviewed the old 320SL??? that is now being produced with a modern engine installed. That will have all the vintage of the looks with a modern reliability and performance.

Your 250 GTO is certainly an expensive car, if it is the one I am thinking of, but what about this? Nearly, but not quite

Everyone is posting some excellent ideas and it would be wrong to criticise the excellent models put forward.

It looks like a good majority are staying loyal to the marque and the excellent looking CL is way out in front.

In my opinion the CL is a great choice as it is powerful, luxurious and not to ostentatious (struggling without a spell checker... )

:D :) So are you saying it should have been called a Ferrari Testosterone :)

Sorry about that

John

Lol, at the time i was like... uhmm... 10/12...

Girls weren't the first thing on my mind at the time; come to think of it, funny I actually wanted the car !

Second hand car Maclaren F1 or if it had to be new then a Pagani Zonda F. No kids and i'd take the dogs to the vets in the van. The build quality of the Pagani is second to none and I mean second to none
