What's in a name...

Wannabe gangsta rappers refer to it as a 'Benz' ...

Normal people call them 'Mercs' or just good plain old 'Mercedes'

I have never , ever in my life heard a Rolls Royce called a 'Royce' , heard them called a 'Roller' or a 'Rolls' but never a 'Royce' ... thats just silly ....

Hadn't looked back at this thread for a while... made me chuckle and took me out of a grumpy mood.... I will never refer to it as a Benz again ! As a fully paid up old-fart I refer to "the car" affectionately as the "Dog-Box" (see profile pic for obvious explanation) and in public as a "Mercedes"... and hope I will not be mistaken for a gangsta rapper (about as likely as hell freezing over etc etc...). let's be grateful the the girl whose name was eventually incorporated in the brand had such an elegant name which sounds good in any language... I will resist the temptation to even suggest what might have been if Mr. Jellinek's daughter had a different name, that really would be silly...

Horror of all horros, I saw a Maybach with big chrome spinners in Moscow two weeks ago! Did it look cool???? Um.... haha! But people did look.. and I think that's the idea! In Russia at least, getting looked at is all important, whether 'cos you look a tw*t or super cool!

Bimz, Beemer = BMW
Dubs = Volkswagen or Alloys if you live in the US
Ride or Whip = Car

If you hear anything else let me know and I will translate

Actually you are wrong. Dubs = 22" rims hence double 2s, hence dubs. Or in Ireland its the Dublin football team
