What's the average cost of a remap for a C63 AMG

Depends on whether there are specials ongoing or group buys...

Prices vary slightly.
Either give Eurocharged Watford, MSL at Birmingham or PCS at Hordean a call.
All does Eurocharged remap.

£800 I would have thought?

Pretty close:D

Acid at MSL is always up for a deal if you are thinking of getting any other work done.
As mentioned group buys are a good chance to get a bargain, but they don't occur too often.

You get what you pay for and budget at least £1K plus for a decent tune.

I would recomemend MKB Tuning in Germany - I went down to them earlier this month to remap the CLS and out of all the tuners they give you maximum power over a wider RPM range scale. I looked at all the Stage 1 tuning options from all the top Mercedes tuners including VATH but MKB are something else and I am well pleased with the results from my tuning!

The Eurocharged tune is recognised as one of the best available for both the 63 and 55k engines both here and in the US.
Your budget isn't necessary, along with a trip to Germany. IMO of course:D

So what power gain figures does the Euro Charge tune provide with just Stage 1?

For me yes my trip to Germany was essential for the MKB tune as the tune was customised to the actual vehicle on the dyno/rolling road and big gains within the tolerance levels over a wider rpm range in comparison to every other top Mercedes tuner had to offer.

I even looked at German tuner PP Performance who work in partnership with Fostla but MKB was the best option out of them all.

Like I said before you get what you pay for!

MKB offer the following increase with their Stage 1 remap for the W204 C63 AMG:

Increase in performance to 405 kW (551 HP) at 6800 rpm, 645 Nm at 5100 rpm
modification:
Modified engine management with readapt ignition map and injection map, incl.Vmax delimiter.

Eurocharged Stage 1 remap gives 540bhp and 494ftlb torque. That is £773 27 and a before and after dyno run is done at MSL (I can't speak for the other Eurocharged agents and may be extra £s}, and the map tweaked for optimum performance.

How does that compare to your jaunt to Germany for a similar tune?
What gains did you see for your "over£1k"?

Like you said, you get what you pay for:rolleyes:

Oh, Eurocharges factsheet on the tune including dyno graph.

Not saying the tune you have is inferior or superior, but pointing out big gains can be achieved (according to EC) for less than £1k right here and without a drive to Germany to do it.

Well stock W218 CLS 350 CDI pumps out 620nm 457ft of torque 1600-2400rpm and 261bhp @3800rpm. 0-60mph approx 6.2 sec.

With MKB tune on dyno it pumps out 718nm 530 ft of torque 1600-3000rpm and 320BHP @4100RPM. 0-60MPH approx 5.2 sec.and vmax.

All other tuners were only able to offer 690-700nm of torque over stock 1600-2400rpm range and ranged from 306-313bhp @3800rpm. Not all of them offered vmax.

^ Since when did a CLS diesel come into the equation?
Everyone knows they have huge amounts of torque with a tune.

You posted the MKB figures and I note they are practically the same, but more costly, so why are MKB in Germany better than anything Eurocharged can do?
VMax is lifted to 186mph with EC incidentally.
This is the C63 we are talking about not diseales.

ERM you asked me what gains did I see for my trip to Germany and £1k plus......

I think you will find that with stage 1 MKB figures are actually a little bit more as quoted. With Stage 2 following incrwase is availabe for the W204 C63 AMG:

Increase in performance to 427 kW (581 HP) at 6700 rpm, 673 Nm at 5200 rpm
modification:
Modified engine management with readapt ignition map and injection map, incl.Vmax delimiter, exhaust manifolds s/s and exhaust downpipes.

Stage 1 is around 520hp on a standard car.

I think you are correct.
I was just quoting the EC blurb on their website.
As I don't have a C63 I can't confirm anything:D

But did you not see the title of the thread?
I thought you had a 63 despite your car info under your username.
But anyway, thanks for supplying the C63 figures which according to the blurb, compare almost the same.........but at a higher cost in another country:D

So basically...

1. Pay £1k
2. Do £400 in petrol
3. Get same result
4. £600 worse off

That's without factoring eurotunnell and hotel.

I think MSL would be a better bet.

Erm I think you will find that MKB offer more torque over a wider RPM range in comparison the EC remap for the C63 AMG and that was my point hence you get what you pay for! MKB figures are already more than EC on paper as well as more torque available over a wider RPM range in comparison hence the premium. If deemed necessary I can even obtian all of this from MKB just to prove my point.

If I had a C63 AMG then I would have listed it in my username.....

Hi Stuartk:

I am not knocking Acid as he is top bloke - point is if your on a budget then yes MKB is not for you! ;)
