hi guys. Just wondering what the visual and facelift differences are between the following C63 AMG's.

2011
2012
2013

What were the differences available with performance pack options?

I know the gearbox was updated from 2011 onwards. anything else changed that i need to know before eventually buying one?

Many thanks.

I think a Facelift is a Facelift, so all the same visually in terms of body kit. There were three types of alloy wheel which were 18" five spokes, 19" polished multi-spokes and then 19" black w/diamond cut lip multi-spokes for the Edition 125 models.

Aside from the wheels, I don't exactly know how else the 125 was different. I think it got COMAND as standard but then again I think that was the case from 2012+ for all of them.

The PP I believe was just one option, where you got red calipers, carbon composite brake discs, stiffer shocks and lighter SLS rods/Pistons/crank...oh...and a tune to 480bhp-ish. The LSD disnt come with this pack I don't believe as it could be spec'd as an option for all C63 types. For example, I have a non-PP car but I do have the LSD.

I might be spouting rubbish in some cases but hopefully this helps in some fashion.

Pre-facelift had 'eye brow' headlights and round front fogs, bonnet bulges:

Facelift had sleeker headlights, no separate front foglights as they had DRLs instead, bonnet intents + the grill only has the 1 slat:

Nah, the facelift C63 still has the bonnet bulges but they're slightly different to the pre-facelift ones.

They are all the same, facelift came in 2011, unless you pick an early 2011 then it may be old style.

Please don't go there asking about PPP, sadly quite a lot of what Cozy said is not quite correct.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Basically, i have just come out of a very well specced E92 M3. When i bought the car, it was more luck than judgement with the spec as i hadnt done a huge amount of research. However, it opened my eyes to how important it is buying the car you want with the spec you want. It was a pleasure to own and drive and was very easy to sell.

I have some really specific thoughts about what I am looking for - i.e. must have upgraded sound system and the performance pack is quite high on the list too. But when i do find the right car, i want to know exactly what i am looking for to be in the best position for satisfaction for myself and to ensure i get the best possible deal.

I do have some understanding on the PPP options, but am i correct in saying this was superceded by the edition 507 from 2013 onwards?

The upgraded sound system is a Harmon Kardon unit in the C63s, not sure if it's that much better than the standard, mines standard and perfectly adequate.

Don't get too hung up on having the performance pack or performance pack plus, the front discs are a good £1000 more expensive over the standard ones, if you want the extra power and quite a bit more, go for a Eurocharged map, they've only had a handful of cars make less than 500 BHP after a simple map.

The 507 didn't directly replace the PPP, it was sold along side as a kind of final edition.

I'd agree on the sound system. The HK is very good, and coming from a BMW with it you'll know what to expect BUT, by no means is there such a difference between the standard sound system and HK in the C63 as there is with BMW's standard system.
The Merc standard system will still get your rear view mirror shaking if you want it to.

my father has a 2012 E class estate and the sound system in that is far below the logic 7 sound system of my M3.

With regard to the PP and the ceramic brakes, can standard discs be fitted in place of the ceramics? If not, i wont be buying a PP car as i can not justify 2 grand on discs for the normal style of road driving i do.

Great concept and ceramic discs are definitely cool, just not worth the expense to me personally.

I've had a standard E Class sound system and a HK in the present E63, the difference is tiny - maybe fractionally better on the top end, definitly not a deal breaker IMHO

^^^ interesting.

Just out of curiosty, with regards to your own opinion, what would be critical choices when looking for a C63 with regards to the spec?

The C63 has never been produced with ceramic brakes until the brand, spanking new one for 2015 - do some more research, they are composite, aluminium and steel, but are circa £1000 a disc to replace.

I can't see why not as the calipers are the same but I can't confirm. I was put off a PP car for that reason as when the time came and the service advisor said "That'll be £3000 for your new front brakes, sir", I'd get really p1ssed off.

Other things aside though, as a bit of a car and parts freak, I'd probably have justified it to myself even though I'm unlikely to punish the brakes hard enough on the road to warrant paying for them; the standard brakes are super sharp on the road as it goes.

Must have's for me were Sat Nav, COMAND with HDD/Bluetooth etc, heated seats, PDC with reversing camera, 19" wheels and LSD. Coupe had panoramic roof already, albeit heavy but it's nice in the Summer. I came from BMW also so I went straight in fur HK knowing how awful the base BMW system was but, I was really pleasantly surprised by the standard one in
A C63 so that became a "nice to have" option really.

To be honest, as my car is not brand new, I'd like to see a list of all the options that you could add when buying new so I can work out what is standard and what isn't.

You can still download a brochure from the MB website to see what is standard and what is an option on the current C63, it hasn't changed that much over the 6 years, so it will give you a good idea about your car.
