What's the jack inside my glovebox for?

I've found what looks like a mini-headphone jack inside my glovebox. Don't know whether it is some after-market fitment or came with the car. No reference to it anywhere in the owner's manuals. Any ideas? Anyone know what an iPod connection looks like?

Thanks for the answers, but pardon my ignorance - I go and buy an iPod, load my tunes and attach via the jack. Select Aux on COMAND and I've got my tunes - am I likely to be able to scroll thru via the steering wheel controls to select what I want to play? I assume the iPod will need to be connected to a power source as well?

I doubt you'll be able to interface with the ipos because it is connected only by the headphone jack. It'll be nice to listen to your music or sound tracks to the kids dvd players etc

Brett, have a look at my thread.

To recap, using the AUX-IN, only gives you an audio input into COMAND, nothing else. Well worth using though :)

Thanks - I'll borrow my Dad's iPod later in the week and check it out. Appreciate your help. :bannana:

You might want to press the map button or something once it's playing so you don't have to look at AUX on the screen for the rest of the journey :)

Thanks - I do that as a matter of course except for when I am reading my SMS's

That's a nice suprise isn't it - love my Ipod and know how chuffed I would be to find that! If it does work and it sways you to buy an Ipod - get the original - 4th Gen. The Nanos, shuffles, and minis aren't as good IMHO. Just make different play lists for different moods and let it play - if you get bored with the order, just put it on shuffle. You can even put audio book on, lol. So enjoy your new found feature!

Cheers - my parents are bringing theirs over tomorrow so I'll check whether it works or not.

Smart cars have a jack inside the glove box, it's used for raising the car when changing a wheel ;)
