What's the oldest part fitted to a current Merc?

Yes I bet there are. I will have a look at the pedal rubbers one day!

Give that man a coconut - spot on!

No-one will believe me, but that was the very first thing I thought of! :) Reason being that I saw a broken one on a late R129 (with 124 part number) recently and thought it would be something likely to be broken and get noticed.

Shude again is right with the pedal rubbers (W123 parts on many modern MBs).

I was also going to suggest the plain alloy wheel centre caps (might vary in part number due to colour shade though?)

The lighting main switch (not the visible knob on the front) has been virtually unchanged for at least 50 years .

Then again , things like 21W indicator lamps are just the same as those used on any car since 12V electrics became standard .

Just had my 211 fail the MOT on front to rear brake pipes, one had a 126 part No and the other was 123!

What about this part A1159970681 from my W221?

Might not have a part number printed though, I guess the thread was about parts with a printed number on them.

Cheating really - but a quick browse of the russian site confirms that the brake pedal pad (automatic) is a 123 part number.

And double checking the original pad in the garage, yes the part number is stamped on it (and the same pad fits current mercs doesn't it - certainly 204s)

Wonder if other manufacturers do the same thing?

And BTW I just happened to notice the part number when I was topping up the washer fluid last night - wasn't going round the vehicle with a magnifying glass checking them! :D
