I have to admit that some of the most cracking roads I've seen were in Wales. Nice swoops and nice Tarmac.

below are some of the best roads I have driven or like to go for a blast.

1. A487 in Wales up to Anglesey was amazing
2. The fosse way and the road between Burford and Stowe / chipping Norton in Oxfordshire.

3. The Isle of Man TT

What are yours?

Wrynose Pass in the Lake District is one to really test your clutch.

Snake Road in the Peaks is a brilliant stretch of scenic tarmac.

The B3078 in the New Forest is an excellent road through the Forest, with a Pub at the end for good food or drink.

The B3157 from Bridport to Weymouth has an excellent view of Chesil Beach.

The lack of cameras on the M40 is quite novel for someone that lives in Surrey.

The SL gets a bit of fresh air if we ever need to go in the Oxford/Birmingham direction.

A338 between Wantage and Salisbury is a good drive, as is the A40 between Witney and Cheltenham.

The A34 from Winchester to Oxford gives the car a chance to stretch its legs if you are on the road early enough.

I'd agree with the A18 on the Isle of Man. - Cracking road if you don't get stuck behind someone.

(Chasing down a CBR250 in the Nissan)

Ditto the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen. - Awful when you're stuck behind someone who slows to a crawl at each corner.

I really enjoyed the B5289 south of Keswick this week.

The road home from work.

The A75 from the Millau bridge down towards Montpellier. Absolutely awesome as you descend from the Midi-Pyrenees.

The Pas de la Casa CG2 from Soldeu to France. Just got back:bannana:

(PS The Route Napoléon isn't bad either)

A few which spring to mind:
  • A515 Lichfield to Buxton
  • E80 Monaco to Genoa
  • A3055 Ventnor to Freshwater Bay
  • B4194 Bewdley to Stourport-on-Severn
  • A377 Exeter to Barnstaple

Watch out though, there are quite a few unmarked police patrol cars on the M 40.

The Clyde valley road from Lanark North up to the M74 Junction. It's not mainly a 50 all the way but in the right car, preferably with paddles it's a stunning road. I call it the 'Mini Scottish Green Hell'. Ran an M2 up it s few weeks back, Tyres scrubbed!!! [emoji1303]

In the topic of the green hell please watch this. If I can I will be buying an Alfa Quadrifoglio. In short it just did the Nurburgring circa 14 seconds quicker than the official BMW M4 GTS time!!!!

No EVO triangle mentioned yet?

Unfortunately, the police do tend to be around in certain areas, though it's still worth a look on a nice crisp Sunday morning. :)

The Bealach na Ba
A71/A73 heading towards Glasgow. Great driving road with good sightlines.
A968 all the way to Saxa Vord. Not the twistiest or the best scenery, but you can't half get a good pace on it.
D26 then NA-2011 and NA-140 over the Pyrenees to Isaba. Probably the best road I've ever driven. Amazing scenery on a fantastic driving road.

Recently drive from Sheffield to Manchester up through the snakes pass, awesome roads!!

Black Mountains is a great bit of road north of Swansea

There are, but the biggest threat is the Talivans that sit on the bridges from J2 to J4.

FWIW, the M40 has the fastest moving commute traffic of any major route in the UK. If you're travelling at an indicated 80mph then you're pretty much in the middle of the pack as far as speed goes.
