Wheels in Motion again!

I don't think its a problem detailing how much my C55 cost. From memory i believe the wheel alignment was £150.00, plus i needed 2 castor bolts at £30 each, i already had adjustable camber bolts. As i stated earlier the quality of service and the time taken in getting everything so right (almost 2 hours) was well worth it, plus the equipment they use (Hawk Hunter?) is top notch as well as providing me with a full printout of the work carried our.

Castor bolts......most expensive bolts in the world??

Luckily for me, WIM only 7 miles away.....did a great job on my C270 sport estate....drives much better and does not pull to left so much...also had Tyre wear on inside of front right.....this has stabilised. Very clean premises and very good service.....would use again.

As WIM are on this forum i'm sure no-one wants to quote you on their behalf!!

 rather a strange comment - just interested in how much you paid! I realise there will be differences between setups but a ballpark figure always helps.

Recently i had a Ferrari F430 with twin superchargers fitted who's newish tyres lasted 1040 miles "OMG"..... £1200 for a new set didn't faze the owner?

Lol...front tyres on the Civic last about 5000miles.

As a regular poster on the Lexus Owners Club forum , the guys over there actually rave about this place. Never been as its too far away, but many have gone down just from Scotland to have there alignments done.

One day i WILL give it a go.

Wim 5 months ago W210 set up and 2 bolts £140

Elite tyres Monday just gone, set up and 2 bolts, front and rear toe £142

Both excellent service both cars drive much much better.

Worth every penny not cheap but a vast improvement, i reckon most cars the saving in tyre wear will pay for the work, did on my w210.

In truth gents i don't want to violate any trader rules, hence why i'm "standoffish" about prices.

What i can say though is the bolts we use are genuin Merc chassis adjustment bolts and the price includes fitting which can be an **** on some Merc's.

I can vouch for that as i saw them being (castor bolts) removed from genuine MB parts boxes while my C55 was being done.

I hope i wont need any then, since my car is 1998 and it should have all 4.

We can still help you, even from a distance?... we can find you a centre, help with the settings and validate the results, cost..... £0

Hi there WIM!
A very very frustrated Irish CLK200 owner here, who has finally found some hope in the form of the excellent feedback on the quality of your service and advice!

Have had multiple dealings with my dealer over the 'pulling to the left' problem only to get the same stock answer as many others here it seems..i.e. "the post-alignment settings are now within spec, therefore there is no problem"...yet I as customer and driver have not been happy from the get go with the clear tendancy of the car to pull to the left. E.g. travelling at 100kph on as flat and straight a road (motorway) as I can find, the car goes from the outside of the fast lane to the inside of the next lane over within about 5 secs. cant convince myself that this is normal, or acceptable despite the assurances of the dealer.

the car has just come back from its second (B) service which i got done through a different garage. I asked them to test drive it to see what they thought and sure enough they figure the pull requires correction. but as this is an issue which I have had since the beginning with the car I dont see why I should fork out Eur175 to get it done at the 2nd garage (though not even sure if they could/would be able to do more than the original place), when it is still under warranty, albeit just about. The warranty expires in a couple of days and am seriously considering going back to the dealer to insist on the problem being addressed to my satisfaction. But would really appreciate some guidance from your good selves on it, so at least I am armed with some info from a true expert.

I am attaching a copy of the most recent alignment report in case that helps. Note that even after this alignment adjustment was carried out, there was still a noticeable tendancy to pull left.
Cheers in advance for any help

These guys do get recommendation after recommendation.

They are fairly close to me and I hope to visit soon with the Audi. I suspect all future tyre fitting and alignments will be through them if they are as good as I hear.

Shame they are sooo far away

From Wiltshire that is :D

Even further from Ayrshire !

Wish I'd known about them when I had problem with my 300TE-24 toe-ing in at the back end and scrubbing the outside edges of my rear tyres .

Still worth the drive down south from here if a problem needs to be resolved .

I now have their website bookmarked .

To be honest, it would need to be a very particular reason (setting up after coil-overs etc) that would drag me all that way.

There is a firm in Swindon that I have used for years (recent hiccup excluded) that do a great job for most work including camber alignment.

I think their name should be blanked out whilst the advertising rules are up in the air please.

Why what have i done that's wrong?..... A member used us, i was invited into the thread and i replied, at no point did i trade nor did i mention services or prices?

If you used a main dealer and said the service was great and the manager replied "thanks" should he be banned?

He doesn't mean banned, just that while the advertising issue is sorted out can your company name be blanked out using the filter, as his is.

Ok, thanks.... I'm not to sure what's going on here regarding "traders" but i can assure whoever i'm not trading.... I'm not interested in being a trader, i'm busy enough without touting..... What's different here is i have a trade and i'm prepared to help "interactively" for the club members.

Before admin get to judgmental the reason i'm here was by invitation to the link a member posted about his Geometry report on the CLK.... I have spent my own time/ money helping this owner "out of sight" who's in Ireland, so i'm hardly looking for a quick buck.

:D :D Phew..!!

I was only translating for you, it's not my shout. AFAIK the name blanking is only for businesses that have been using this forum for free advertising, not other external sites..

Fair enough..... I run my own forum so i know how the trader issue needs to be policed.... Some are blatant and i ban them on the spot, others have value and i cut them some slack "within reason".... It's a hard call seemingly there are issues here and i respect that.

Cheers for the heads up though.

its nothing to do with you mate... Its a whole issue around advertising that is being negotiated at the moment..

Someone reccommended my business the other day but my business name gets blanked out automatically whereas when most other busineses get recommended its ok.

Im peeved that the mods havent "de profanitised" my name yet.
