Which Engine Oil?

I ended up ordering 20L of: Gulf Formula CFE 5w30 Syn Engine oil ACEA C2/C3 / MB 229.52 APPROVED 20L

Link

Seems pretty decent and meets 229.52 and only £55.99

That’s a great price for Approved spec oil.

as i own a w204 c280 2007, is this oil ok,

Mobil SUPER 3000 5W-40 X1 - 5Ltr

thanks for the link, it seems im ok with shell ultra then, in the old days it was castrol gtx for any car, well nearly. lol

First thing I would do is check the level with the dipstick- if one is fitted?
For top up any oil that meets MB 229.5 should be fine. I would suggest provenance is as important as brand especially if buying on line.

Please forgive my ignorance. I presume the x on the spec sheet means it's compatible. I want to use Shell Helix Ultra instead of MB 229.5
Am I right in thinking this will be OK

Shell Helix ultra is approved by MB and being a GTL oil derived from gas (Gas To Liquid technology) it's one of the very best oils available.

That's good to know. Thanks' very much .

I have a B200 cdi with an OM651 engine. Been running on genuine merc 5W30 229.51 oil. Have recently been given some Mobil 1 esp lv 0W30. Enough for an oil change, but is it OK in my engine? I have used mobile 1 esp 5W30 in the past ok. With winter coming up it may be fine viscosity wise, but is the rating OK? It is 229.61 oil, not 229.52.

It's a further extention of 229.52 to ace the fuel economy .

Want more protection , choose a different manufacturer spec .
