Having read recent threads about cars being changed it set me thinking.
Who is selling all these Mercedes?

So the poll is easy, where did you buy your Mercedes from.

Its always been the "STEALERS" (factory orders...)

Three of my past Mercs were main dealer, the rest were from independants. I could only vote for one so I said main dealer.

Other independent dealer. I was told that I was buying the car off the trader himself, not the company as it was his private car, so I wasn't entitled to any warranty. Naturally the V5 had the company name on and the cheque was made out to the company  .

Doing the industry proud! The trouble with used car salesmen is that 99% of them give the 1% of good ones a bad name! ;)

Bought mine from a hare christner ukrainian migrant. Also got a free (vegetarian) lunch.

My car was a weird one really! It was for sale at a manchester stealership, but then I saw it advertised privately, basically, an independent dealer who had contact within the manchester stealership, got the car off them for alot less than they had it priced, and saved me £5K off what the stealers wanted.

before anyone askes, I rang the dealers to see what the best price they would do it for and it was £5K more than what I paid!

Always main dealers. I wouldnt rule out a good independent though.

Got the last two from becasue it was local at the time www.cambridgeautos.com

I would consider a main dealer if I was buying up to 3 years old, if not a specialist independant every time.

Bought the Coupe from a shady Forum Member  Best deal I have ever had and I knew the car inside out having been responsible for services on it. The 260E was bought of a trader I knew well. That again was a good deal. Both cars have had their ups and downs but would I change anything? No Sir.

What about a fifth option,"bloke down the pub"..........

Good 'ole Ebay ....... ;)

I bought mine privately from a gentleman in Broadstone. All the dealings were done over the internet/phone, he picked me up from Bournemouth airport(I flew down from Scotland), and then he put me up for the night in his family home. Couln't have been more pleased with the purchase and to cap it all off, I had a nice ten hour drive back up to Scotland to really get to know the car.

Edna was sourced by me but bought through my dealers. The car was in Chesterfield they went and bought it on my behalf so my contract etc was with my dealer. Worked very very well.

Some trade bloke for me - can't afford Mercs from dealers!

I found mine on eBay but bought it "privately" as the guy ended the auction early.

He got paid in cash and we got one of the best deals I've ever done on a car :)

Found the C43 on eBay, bought the SClass from MB Stuttgart and the 560 SEC from an independent.

Bought my first 190 from a Mercedes main dealer. My next 190 was a trade in from a Porsche dealer and the E220 coupe from a good independent. For a latest model I would go main dealer with full MB warranty for peace of mind and future resale history. For 3 years + a good merc specialist/independent with a history/warranty and for 5 years+ a MERC specialist with history or private ( 1+2 owners) with service history. To a certain extent the choice of who you buy from is dictated by the age of the car.

Got mine off Ebay too
