About 10 days ago I saw someone taking pot shots at me with an air rifle as I was driving, I'm not really surprised as I do live in Wild West Yorkshire..

I looked at the time and didn't see any damage, but on closer inspection I have a hole in the nearside rear light lens just a little bigger than an airgun pellet. I now need to get a new one as it's an MOT failure (but not due till May.) and it does make the car look tatty. Anyone got any ideas where I'll get the best deal without paying dealer prices ?
Oh and if anyone can tell me where I can get an AK47 I'd like a little bit of revenge.

The police were informed and said they will get back to me, but as a cynical motorist I fully expect to be told it was my own fault.

Have you actually asked the parts dept at your local stealership? You might find them cheaper than you think :) .

I hear that traffic wardens will soon be issuing £100 fines for driving your car into an air pellet :)
I'd try http://www.eurocarparts.com/ or http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ for a new lens.

A used one might be worth a try but remember to match the indicator colour.

£27.50+vat from eurocarparts £26.95+vat from gfs

I can get a Lucas rear lens for £38.00 plus postage if that is of help to you. Presuming its the same on a saloon and coupe?

I appreciate that Jimmy, thank you. I'll let you know as soon as I've got a reply from the dealer.

There are AK47 bits on ebay, perhaps you could build your own.

Hang on! Is this very sort of thing not considered by the Government to be one of the great social evils of our time and is, right now, the subject of a huge Home Office "initiative" (spin to you and me)?

A very formal letter or email to your MP, local top cop & grandees on the local council asking just what the plod are doing about it might be in order. Too busy imprisoning motorists, perhaps?

Reading the other thread I reckon that if you were driving a Peugeot 406 you could have out accelerated the pellet by heading up to 406mph. :p

On a more serious note I agree with the idea of writing to your local MP and councilors. Actually I guess you were lucky the pellet hit the rear light cluster and not the bodywork  That could have been a potentially more expensive repair.

Reminds me of those scallywags that drop bricks and breezeblocks from motorway overpasses/bridges on to passing motorists because they deem it a laugh   :( wtf??

Now THAT is where an AK 47 should be used, once would be enough!

I had a brick thrown at my £19k month old A160

Left a big dent in the A pillar. Police couldnt care less.

Lets see how far they get when they need my help with something ....... ;)

LOL I can just picture the scene...

Police Officer: "Mr. Haggarty, I was wondering if you could help us with our enquiries? A teenage youth has been hospitalised with a large house brick forcibly inserted into the victim's rectum. Did you witness the incident in question?..."
Fuzzer (a.k.a. Mr Haggarty): [face_smile] + **Innocent Whistle**

:p :p
