Running Win XP Pro SP3, fully patched.
Every now and again it 'loses' the driver for something. E.g. today when I turned the scanner on it went into the new hardware wizard
Inserting the driver cd doesn't work ... the only solution is to use system restore. But working out how far back to go can be tricky with devices that aren't used all the time.
It's lost the scanner before, also the USB interface for my phone (I never did get that working again - had no idea when I'd last used it and a removal and re-install was unsuccessful).
Also lost the USB hub built in to my Dell monitor.
Anyone heard of this before? After a bit of Googling it doesn't seem to be a common problem.
