I have been searching for a fault code reader for my jan 97 c180 w202 with the 38 pin socket - some reatilers have said that the EU702 might do the job and apparantly in its menu it has the w202 listed from june/07 onwards - this is so close i was wandering if anyone here has used a scanner that...

Thanks in advance.
I've just purchased an Autel MaxiDiag fault code reader in the hope it would help sort out the S class. I gave it a quick twirl in the Coupe and it worked brilliantly, told me my right/front ABS sensor was faulty and cleared it, it does live data and stuff too. It's not exactly Star or Tech2 but...

Just had a look around the engine bay this morning and in the top right corner, there is a cap which comes off, revealing a plu like thingy :D
1. Is this the only location to plug in a diagnostic tool, or will there be something inside the car too?
2. I'm going to order a U581 code reader...
Having read a very useful thread regarding scanners, I feel it is a wise investment to buy one for our W202 C220CDi. :)
I had a quick look on eBay and there are quite a few. To be honest, I don't quite know what I should be looking for, so I have posted up several models and am wondering...
My benevolent employer has given us £50 in vouchers :thumb:
Argos is one of the shops that will redeem them and while browsing I found this.
Has anyone any experience of it? Pointless toy or useful bit of kit?

I have an occasional problem with my engine warning light that appears due to a mass airflow sensor(according to the diagnostic device at the garage I use) It is a 2001 model SLK 230.
I would like to buy a device that I can check and reset this myself as it is getting rather expensive at £30 a...
I have decided its time to buy a reader of my own; does anyone have any recommendations. It is for personal use not for a workshop so am looking at the budget end of the market - appreciate that there will be limitations - knowing what these are would also be useful. Thank you.
I am thinking of investing in a code reader as we have a fair few cars in the family and it would be handy.
Now I have no idea what to look for in a reader so some advice would be appreciated.
As far as I can tell all our cars are ODBII:
W203 C Coupe 2004
Toyota Avensis 2003
Honda Civic 2004...

My FCR arrived yesterday, and it's already found it's first fault - P0314, intermittent misfire, unspecified cylinder.
On a colleagues Renault Clio, I might add.
Reads & clears generic OBDII codes, nothing M-B specific, no live data. But for £25 including delivery, I can live with that.
Ian.
I've got a problem with one of the cars, a Volvo XC70.
Well, two actually, the first relates to the cooling system, and the second to the A/C control board on the dash.
As the car is a 2003 model, I think that a fault-code reader would be a good idea... but I'm not sure which model.... any...
There are various things I would like to do to my car but without the MB star computer I can't (change brakes ect). Does any one have any ideas were to get one system cheaply that could do things like this without going down the chinese or e-bay route.
Bro,

Can anyone explain where is the "R BUTTON"?
