Just been quoted £450 for A service for standard C63 (if I supply oil).

Sounds reasonable to me.

Is it a fair price to pay ?

How old is the car ? miles? is that price inclusive of any extras eg any filters fluids etc ?

The car is a 58 plate with 21K and includes VAT air filter G/box oil and filter.

Sounds about right phone two or three local dealers and go with the cheapest i guess.

Is that with a main dealer?.

By the sound of it about half is for the gearbox ATF change, half for the service inc. air filter. Seems reasonable for main dealer service cost.

However, just make sure you keep an eye on any other items that may be required even given your low mileage:

Brake Fluid - 2 years
Fuel filter - 4 years
Spark plugs - 4 years
Coolant - (15 years on most cars, not sure if the C63 is the same)

That's an excellent price from a main dealer for your car imo.

If you're from N.Wales make sure you get a quote from Regent Garage Criccieth.

They are an offical MB workshop and have 100% satisfaction rating and are generally cheaper than the dealer. They also offer a discount on the labour rate for repeat customers.

They may be a little further to travel and generally won't have the latest models available as courtesy cars, but I have found them to offer excellent value and service during my 50k miles.

Regards, Neil

I don't think the price is all that good, especially bearing in mind the OP is supply his own oil, for which the dealer would have added well over £100.

Is the C63 any more difficult to service than a more mundane model? I've had an A service without oil for £150 and ATF change for about £200, at MB Chester, which is in the same group as the dealer the OP referred to.

Wouldn't the car also be due for a brake fluid change?

When you getting quotes, dont be shy in asking "is that the best price?" as the dealers are aware of local MB competition and will reduce the price to meet servicing targets. I have yet to pay the asking price on service cost as they have always done a deal. as someone has pointed out earlier there is loads of margin in the costing in order to get you a stamp in the book

I paid £348.00 for a B service 2009 / 20K miles I did supply my own oil and transmission fluid and not including brake fluid change as it had been done last year :)

I'm off to Llandudno tomorrow with a portakabin, I'll give you a wave :p

Better still, I called at another local MB dealership to compare prices and I was told by the service manager that he could offer me a service plan for the C63 for £60 per month.

I rushed home collected said car and on route to dealer received a phone call from the service manager to say that he had made a mistake. The service package was only available on new cars.

Feeling slightly cheesed off at the service manager when I returned to the dealership he agreed to the above mentioned A service for £450 all in.

I thought that was a good deal.

Someone will now prove me wrong. :)

my first service was £180+ oil which i supplied @ approx 12500
second service was £330+ oil which i supplied @ approx 25000

are these A or B or other services ?

i thought they were very good prices - MB Maidstone

these are all in except the oil

yes !

if there are warranty issues and or updates to software
they struggled to update the software on my gearbox during the second service and needed to keep the car for 5 working days while they spoke to germany
they were most apologetic and withdrew the bill (£330) for the trouble

MB Maidstone like me and my car:bannana:

Prices are interesting, but if the car is 4 years old it should be a B Service on the basis that A and B alternate every 12 months. Have you run the car through MB ESS? The ATf is due at 3 years or 30k miles, but at four years there are extras so the price you have to check is service plus extras. Some good discounting on MB My Service site too, check out my other threads. I just had my service which was a B3 according to the car and correlated to MB ESS.

£60 a month? £720 a year? That is no bargain....

The £60 a month was for 3 services.
