Hi all, thought I'd share my work I've carried out on my new to me CL55 that I picked up 16 days ago, when I get a new car I cant rest till I've addressed any issues it has and make it look the way I like.

Here's how it looked in the advert:

Once I got it home the work began, here's a list of the work carried out with pictures where I have them.

Machine polished paint work (1st G3 compound then over again with finesse compound).

Paint correction carried out chips and scratches.

Refurbished the headlights due to stone chip damage (wet flat 320 grit then 800 grit then 1500 grit then machine polish).

How they looked before

Fitted 8000k xenon bulbs in place of the stock ones.

left 8000k right stock

Fitted LED sidelight bulbs.

Swapped out the number plate bulbs for LED.

Carried out repair to drivers side rear window where the metal part on the leading edge fouled something inside the panel and scrapping the black paint off.

Replaced the badges (CL55, AMG) due to them not being replaced after the car had a full Respray.

Removed the 2 resonators and replaced them with straight pipe.

Cleaned under the bonnet (it was filthy)

Dropped it 35mm with lowering links.

ABC fluid flush ( 8.5ltrs flushed through).

Transmission fluid and filter changed.

Rear diff oil changed.

Brake fluid changed.

Oil and filter changed.

4 replacement wheel bolts fitted (last owner kindly neglected to tell me they were missing.....).

Front middle grill and N/S grill replaced (due to being missing).

Secondary CATS removed and replaced with straight pipe.

De-chromed whole car apart from badges (done using tape so its easily reversible if I ever feel the need too).

Rear lights tinted (I did this at work in the spray shop using standard car lacquer and adding 10% standard black then applying thin coats till the desired effect is reached).

masked up ready

2 coats

fitted back to car

sidelights on showing they still function perfectly

Fitted new front discs and pads.

Refurbed the brembo calipers front and back.

rears

Thats about it......

This morning I gave it a good clean and wax and took some all finished pics,

Here it is all done.

Well that's it all done........for not at least:D

I've really surprised myself, I can't believe I like it...

Looks great, I like everything you have done, except the rear lights. Just my opinion.

Looks good mate, a touch on the menacing + sinister side.

I'd be afraid that if it pulled up along side me at the lights I'd be waiting for the window to slowly go down and the sawn off to appear :D

Looks well though, good job mate

Lovely - such a beautiful shape car. One of my favourites and you have improved it greatly imo:thumb:

Why do some CL55's, like yours only have single tailpipes? Is it to do with production year?

Non SC cars have the single pipes.

Looks Beautiful, not keen on the rear lights but a stunning car nether the less Well done :)

Yep as mentioned its non charged, all pre 2003 (pre facelift) were non supercharged.

She looks great - I admire your level of input over a relatively short period.

Look out for a get together so we can have a proper look :thumb:.

Fantastic work, a credit to you. As mentioned not keen on the rear lights. The car looks stunning. Well done.

Try and get to Olly's GTG.

You have taken a beautiful car and by being subtle have enhanced the look into something that is individual but also still very stylish :)

Looks mint, definitely a credit to you!

I'm just about to look and hopefully purchase the 600 version and like you, I need to get some maintenance/paintwork niggles fixed ASAP before I can actually enjoy the car.

How difficult were the 35mm drop links to install and what did they set you back, looks great lowered a bit!

Did you get the oil/fluids changed at a indie/dealer or do it yourself, a rough ball park on getting this done would be nice to know. :thumb:
