Our spies have caught a Mercedes E-Class Cabrio virtually undisguised.

While only a few pieces of camouflage hide the headlights and emblems, we've already seen these design elements on the E-Class Coupe. Nearly identical to the aforementioned model, the Cabrio features a canvas roof and a unique pop-up wind blocker (the black section at top of the windshield) that reduces air turbulence when the roof is down.

Like the coupe, engine options are expected to include a 215 kW (292 hp) 3.5-liter V6 and a 5.5-liter V8 with 285 kW (388 hp). Since Mercedes has nixed the AMG version of the E-Class Coupe, the Cabrio won't receive the fire breathing 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine with 386 kW (525 hp) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque.

Look for the E-Class Cabrio to debut at the North American International Auto Show or the Geneva Motor Show.

I quite fancy a black one.

Those rear arches are very Bentley Continental GT-esque aren't they. I like a shapely rump!! ;)

If you look for pictures from the new Sex and the City film, then you'll note that the car being used by Carrie ?(This is as much as I know about the cast) is an E500 Cab. Came out about 1 month ago.....

The 1st Sex & the city film had the GLK visible long before it was on sale. The new film is out in May (according to IMDB) and will no doubt have a similar preview of this E-Class Cabrio before launch.

Its not currently on sale, & hasnt been out for a month :) these pictures were taken this week.

Edit: Ignore, wires crossed :D

Hehe no prob. I assure you I've seen pictures of the E Class Cabrio in gossip mags at least a month ago - of course they aren't talking about the car !

Don't like that much. Looks 'funny' from the back. No doubt it'll grow on me like the new 5 series did.

Seems to be a lot of junk in that trunk! The proportions look a bit odd in pictures.

Seems madness to not offer an AMG version ? A step backwards ( I'm sure Hawk20 will disagree ) ....

How long do you think it will be before Brabus offer a proper big engined version , a week ?

I quite like the square front lights but the rear wheel archs will need to grow on me before I buy one, but that not a problem I will have to deal with as I have no chance of buying one, I like silver, looks..... Mercedes.

Is this the 1st merc without centre caps? I like the centre cap look, the wheel looks finished with them in place, BMW sometimes go with the no centre cap look although it looks aggressive I think it unfinished. Only my opinion I am sure some of you will disagree

All prototypes have them missing, after all they don't want any badge visible before launch

front and side views look really good, back end seems too jelly mould like to me and the rear wheel arches enlarge its bum in a renault megane fashion.

These arches look stupid are they really needed?
