Easy way to tell non genuine is if the ballast unit is mounted separately usually on the inner wing and not e marked.

I will look out for that tomorrow, thank you I wouldn't want problems come MOT time.

Why don't you look at a W203 saloon? Something like: 2002 MERCEDES-BENZ C220 CDI Classic

I had a W202 and although some people really like them I didnt rate it at all, paying £4.5k is top wack for what is a 15 year old design.

W202's are better cars than W203's hands down. You will get less problems with it, and they are easier to maintain and cost less for labour when they go wrong (thats if they go wrong).

202's were the last cars mercedes made properly, so if you want one i'd suggest going for that. Its a very comfy ride aswell, and when you drive it you will feel the quality over the 203.
