2001 SLK Fuel Pump Noisy

Hi guys,
Have any of you had the 'pleasure' of replacing the fuel pump in a 2001 SLK200.
We have a fair mount of noise in the rear offside wheel arch which sound like the pump.
Any ideas/advice gratefully received.

If its an R170 its running gear is based on the W202 C class and its a very simple swap. My advice----- clamp of the to and from fuel lines-- remove the fuel pump/filter assembly--rebuild on the bench--- replace the assembly [with a NEW filter fitted the correct way!!] --reconnect pipes and your away. If its the later R171 its a lot more complicated with the fuel pump located in the tank!!
