Hi all, new to the MB site and finding a wealth of info and interesting stuff on here.
I know not all of you are fans of the w210 e series but I have one and just love it, mine has zero rot (even on close inspection over a pit) sills / turrets / chassis seams / wings / arches .... all good ! lucky me eh! anyway.... on to my question... does anyone know of or can point me in the right direction for a 'top quality' set of the stainless / chromed wheel arch kit for said vehicle? I have seen a few on evil bay for what seems like reasonable money but would like some feedback from anyone that has purchased one of these kits and been very pleased with the quality etc:
Any info would be much appreciated thanks. :thumb:

Firstly welcome to the site .
And congratulations on finding a rust free W210 I find it hard to believe there isn't any.
So why do you want to fit the stainless arches, you will get mixed views on them from other forum users I'm sure but it's your car so Upto you. Personally I'm not a fan and I my opinion all they do is attract debris and road grime and salt which will cause the arches to begin rotting. So I wouldn't recomend them at all.with regards to quality I wouldn't know there are plenty on eBay selling them someone may be along to advise on a particular brand.
Good luck and keep that rust at bay

Congrats on the a Find, ;) Regards to the chrome trim of with the above view they also give the impression that the owner is trying to hide something there behind them especially being a 210.

Welcome to the Forum btw :)

I guess I was just very lucky in finding mine although I have been searching for over a year so when I found it I went over it with a fine toothed comb and snapped it up, low miles / full MB history / two owners from new / everything works as it should without faults / and almost showroom body and paint!
Regards to the arches, I just think the w210 is one of the few Mercedes (let alone any other make of car) that can totally wear them with pride, if they are fitted correctly and arches are pre-treated (waxoil etc:) there won't be any future issues. I guess the arches are a personal thing really, just need to source a set of 18'' AMG monoblocks to go under them either ripe for a refurb or just a good price and I'm a happy bunny.:)

You have a rust free example...and when you fit the nasty chrome arches two thongs will happen, 1) people will not believe you do not have rust behind the chrome and 2), the rust will soon appear behind the nasty chrome arches.

Got to say that was all fairly predictable.... I kinda knew I was going to get a bashing for the arches but they are going on the car despite all the neg: what i really need is some positive feedback from anyone who has used a certain supplier and so can personally recommend the product. Anyone??

Welcome gadget1960. I saw one parked next to mine the other day and in all honesty I did not like it one bit. It was well fitted and all seemed proportionate but it just looked very cheap.

I cannot remember reading of anyone on here who has fitted them (as you have guessed they are not popular) so you may struggle to find recommendations. Good luck with the search :)

Are they ebay ones stick on or bolt on jobbies? If you post a link to the ones you saw you may get some advice on them

Oh dear... i'm not faring too well here am i? I can see what you are saying but i really do like them, i have seen a set fitted to a near identical car to mine ie: colour / spec. etc: so i have a real visual reference to go by. The sets on e'bay look to be of a decent quality etc: and have the options of clip fitting or screw and glue fitting but i was just asking if anyone had real 1st hand knowledge / experience of any particular kit they had used and would recommend.
I think I'm going to have to go it alone on this one, i seem to have picked THE most unpopular model and about to fit THE most unpopular mod !
Good thing I'm a butcher and not a car designer eh? :D
Was thinking of getting a carbon fibre touring car rear wing for it ! ooohoooh and some chrome spinners and a Halfords bonnet scoop and a big bore 4 and neons and a mahoooosive sub and and ......... OMG I'm 16 again aaaarrrrrgggg.
lol.

what medication are you on ???

and can we have some??

No you can't ! Although I think I have had a bit of luck concerning the stainless/chromed arch kit, managed to fit a company that manufactures the kit in Germany and by all accounts it's got a very good reputation for quality / delivery / service. Price isn't OTT either so I think i'll order a kit.
If everything goes ok i'll post some pics when fitted so all you haters can have a laugh at my expense.:thumb:

can we have a link to the product / supplier, please?

The fronts' leading edge would have to be a good six inches wide for the 'comb-over' to work (*for most purchasers) which would look symmetrically very odd.
Can one get really massive ones for the rear arches...?

And .... in English please !? :dk:

Please don't fit them.

Get a set of 18" 55 wheels and lower it a little.

Also big STAR grills are a no no.

Saying that, it's your car and do what makes you happy.

The shopping list is .... 18 inch amg monoblocs,
A suitable suspension set up for stance and overall look,
Rear lip spoiler,
Front lower splitter,
Didn't know a big star grill was available for the w210 but wouldn't fit one anyway.
And I know most of you peeps don't like the w210 anyway for one reason or another but I really do like it and the overall look I'm aiming for includes the stainless arches, so they too are on the shopping list.
