mercedes sprinter 319 V6
Hi to all,

I have a Mercedes sprinter 2010 319 cdi, v6, 190 bhp, om642 engine, its done 155k, which i bought new.

It has an intermittent starting issue, which started in November 2012, the engine turns for 20 to 30 seconds before it will start, when hot or cold but not every time, it always starts.

After several visits to main supplying dealer, its had a new fuel filter, new O2 censor, crank shaft censor, cam shaft censor, injectors removed and tested all OK and new heater plugs, the last visit its been there for 4 weeks.

Does anybody have any ideas/ suggestions? I have considered the high pressure fuel pump or seals in the fuel rail but am not sure?

It doesn't show any faults on the diagnoses machine, any help would be much appreciated

It could be an air leak into the fuel pipes or worn injectors.

Check for air bubbles and have a leak off test performed.

Another thought is a split O ring in the fuel pressure regulator on the end of the rail.
