As above really. My car is shortly due an (A) service. 2005 240 2.6 V6

Can someone list the parts needed for this ?

My local indie quoted, could be around the £800 mark. does this seem around the right number to pay ?

Thanks in advance...

Craig

Unfortunatly miles and age influence the extras that are required in a service. Dont forget that you can save by supplying your own (correctly specced) oil if using Mercedes :thumb:

Depends on what extras it needs, enter your details here and let us know -

I am paying £180 at a MB dealer for an A service on a c43 amg.

Mercedes-Benz ESS

So, I took out one of the MB service plans. £55 pm over the next two years. This covers three services, A, B A services.
At 48,800 miles seems it needed plugs and gearbox oil as extras.
I'm sure it could be done for less but the Mrs is happy. It's her car and that's all that matters :-)
Car collected and returned, no hassles. That makes me happy.

She'll be doing 20,000 miles plus in the car per year. I'll let MB dealer look after her car needs not me :-)

Ummm feck !!

Forget all I've just written. I've just heard back from the dealer. It seems on its last services the plugs and transmission oil should have been done BUT weren't :-(
Nearly £700 they want for this on top of a std A service :-(

So, over a grand :-(
What now"...

You can do an 'A' service yourself in under 1/2 hour for under £50 - so easy that I do it every 5,000 miles.
'B' service not a huge amount more in cost and time, but plugs will always be expensive.

Olly on this forum (PCS) does a proper transmission oil change for £180 IIRC - great value, and you will know it has been done properly.

Yup... :-)

Guess it'll be going to the guys who look after my boxter now. At least I know the work carried out will be correct.
So much for the so called specialists doing work in accordance with what MB recommends :-(

The last two services were carried out by a specialist in Newton abbot

The customer may have refused the work to be done. It happens quite a lot.

Oh I agree :-)

All I can imagine is MB won't carry out a service if all work due is not completed in full. Please correct me if this isn't the case...

Ok so, I've ordered up all the parts I need apart from gearbox oil. I'm changing the brakes all around using Textar discs and pads as a matter of course.

Can seem to find much info at all for the auto transmission oil I need. Can you help ...?

Many thanks :-)

Look at my How To.

Wasn't really a how to I was looking for. More like the exact oil spec I need. Or is it a trade secret like what Porsche use or Mazda use in the RX8 :-)
