Last week I had my rear discs and pads replaced (on my 2003 E320 CDi) at a tyre service depot. Since then the pads are permanently rubbing against the discs. The discs are getting hot on any journey over a few miles and the fuel consumption has nose dived - unsurprisingly.
When I returned the car to the depot, they said I now need 2 new calipers. Apparently the pistons have corroded and now that they are seated inside the calipers they are jamming on the internal seals.
I haven't come across this problem before and I'm a bit sceptical about the explanation. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Does the explanation ring true?
