5 years in...

There are still places you can use a fast car (aside from the obvious track days) and most of the heavy handed speed enforcement is either in built up areas ...which is fair enough IMO....or on motorways.....and you cant have much fun in car on one of those. Fast, open and flowing country A roads with good visibility that that you know well are the places to drive a car properly. I've has some quickish cars and don't hang about when Im in the mood.....no points for speeding since 1989.
And I suppose to be honest even the most humble hatchback can easily exceed 100 mph these days.....well into mandatory bans speeds.

I have to agree, living 12 miles from the nearest town with fantastic local A & B roads rarely policed I certainly get the chance to drive my car properly, yes I rarely use all the power on tap but I of kind like having in "reserve" if needed.
Sorry if this isn't PC but why have the cars if you're gonna potter about @ 40-50mph all day.

That's awesome, if you get one in time, you'll have to let me have a ride at BOTG, not driven one before👌 😁

Do we have BOTG event this year? 🤔

With regards to S213/W213 what's the difference between the S & standard..??
I know about BHP, front seats, red callipers etc but are there any other essentials I need to know about..??
Active engine and suspension mounts....'Race' mode, AMG Track Pace integration - there may be others, not even sure myself these days :D

213 e63s big heavy way too silent and refined for an amg those aside it's ok oh yes and uncomfortable sports seats - that's my verdict after a trip to amg hq and back in one.

I'd agree with you on one point - too quiet, but thats only because most of them (including mine) came with GPF's. Outside of that, its an absolute missile - the sports seats might not be for you but I love them, loved them in my C63S too, make's the cabin feel like a very special place to be.

Thanks, I will definitely look into a Brooklands experience - like you I love my w212 & it's been 100% reliable & an epic car to own & drive for the past 5 years but I either need to get some cream or address the itch ASAP - if nothing else to stop Mrs Cooke tutting at me for spending hours looking for possible replacements..
Taking out the stock exhaust has helped me somewhat. I'm going up north on 9th Feb, I'll have to find some time to take the car out on some windy roads to see if its got the magic or not. Certainly I'm enjoying the sound quite a bit , I normally drive a v8 NA bmw 6 series for my work commute, so it's a very nice change to use the E class instead for a few days until I charge up the flat battery on the bmw. I'm keen to mod the exhaust on the bmw but ultimately if the 212 can impress me in the peak district then I'll keep it and try to keep my prying eyes off the 213s on autotrader 🤣🤣 I've only owned mine 3 years. One thing that just made the 205 shine was the super quick and entertaining downshifts and upshifts and the car hitting the grip limits so easily. The E just seems too capable for its own good, meaning scary speeds to extract thrills

I have no driving experience with regards to 213 M177 but I do know its a closed deck engine like the M156 and the walls are also coated with twin-wire-arc-spray (TWAS). I hear its a very strong engine and very tuneable. No serious reports of any catastrophic engine failure but there are some reports of failing coil packs, might be a manufacturers bad batch or something? Easily replaced at home, nothing that would be of a concern. Coilpacks are no longer on backorder from what I hear 👍

Good things that come to mind, maybe to lookout for in either S or non S.

1) larger fuel tank (90l?)
2) sport seats
3) hyacinth red
4) alloy wheel design
5) ceramic brakes

Questions
Does it have oil pressure gauge?
Any difference in insurance group S verses non S?
Are the turbos the same between S verses non S?
Any other mechanical differences, disregarding tune & possible exhaust backbox change?

Planning on viewing a 2019 facelift C63s estate on Friday - one owner, FMBSH, all the toys & a good price - so much cheaper than an E63s - hopefully it will drive as good as the multiple reviews I’ve watched recently 🤞🤞
Maybe the E63s can wait a few more years..🤔🤔

Good luck mate 👍

The larger fuel tank option was discontinued early on from what I’ve read (mores the pity!)

Hyacinth red doesn’t suit the car (IMO), unless you want a proper Q-car (the one I looked at looked at was simply too anonymous).

In all the cars I looked at, I never saw one with CCB’s.

There’s no oil pressure gauge, nor do the S cars have different turbos to the non-S cars, although they are different to those in the C63.

Hyacinth with grey interior looks great and far from being anonymous , really stands out from the sea of black and silver ones. IMO of course.
