560 SEC - Nice looking car

Thought it might be someone on here.

Much better price on here too. If I had the cash, it'd be well worth a look!

Im selling it on behalf of Nav, it owes him in excess of £30k, hes a family friend so Im not making anything on it. I think he has tried to edit the price but couldn't do it on here. It really is every bit as good as it looks.

Had someone ring and make a £10k offer, at that price id buy it myself!

Sorry to be in the minority, but to me it's garish, overstated and unoriginal.
Whilst I'm sure it's in good nick physically, no one who's managed to amass £30k will be willing to spend it on this.

Whilst I'm sure it's in good nick physically only a pimp or a drug dealer would want to be seen dead in it...I'm surprised anyone has such bad taste they'd bid £10k for it unless they're one of the aforementioned.

Says the man driving a canary yellow R129.

There is no doubt it is a nice car and in very good condition but the touches are quite personal.

Part of the joy of a car like this in mind is actually building it how you like.

I wouldn't personally have had such a light interior, but I don't dislike what Nav has done.

Yes I have already changed the post a little as I realised I'd opened myself up to that, although some think red on anything other than a Ferrari is a bit OTT, as it happens mine is actually Porsche Speed Yellow rather than the more everyday canary yellow.
But it's not the colour that's important in this regard, the SEC looks tarted up, the FO wheels, the black piped upholstery, the sheer tasteless unoriginality of it.
You make a good point about the touches being personal, I think that's why the value is hopelessly optimistic...it's too personal.

Stevie, you dont get it... This car is simply stunning, everything has been done to very very high standards using very rare and expensive parts...

I cant see how it can be tasteless.

It's all in the eye of the beholder...I'm not a fan of surgically enhanced bosoms but they're generally done to a high standard.
Personally I think SEC look stunning in the original.

The only contentious element I can see is the contrast piping, which in most cars looks hideous, but in this one it actually looks pretty good. The leather work on the doors, centre console and dash looks simply superb. It may take a while to find the right buyer, but I'm sure eventually the right person will come along.

Evidently, yes and I don't think it's tasteless BUT it is just not to everyone's taste !

No doubt it's worth this, if not more if you add up what was spent on it. However, IMO a car that's had money spent on non original upgrades (or as said Personalised to owner's choice) can be a difficult sale but no doubt such cars have a place on the market.

I see the point regarding customisation. The only thing bespoke is the interior. The engine has an upgrade using AMG parts, the wheels are period AMG, the body kit is period AMG. The lights/indicators can be replaced with stock items in minutes and the window that are lightly smoked returned to normal in a couple of hours. You then have a period looking 560SEC that is mechanically sound with a fantastic interior.

Yes it's not for everyone, but then most people dont spend £20 k on a old car for the weekends. As anyone who has bought car of this era knows, it's cost a small fortune getting a poor example tidy. And if you want a mint one it's Charles Ironside prices.

Not expecting a quick sale, but as I said earlier if Nav even thinks of taking £10k, it can sit in my garage until he regrets selling it (which he will) then he can have it back.

It will no doubt appeal to someone who is well informed on the matter of SEC's.. And realises the value of the rare and expensive parts fitted, loves the look, who has cash on the hip, but doesnt fancy a long drawn out project sourcing all the AMG bits, sourcing a decent project car, a quality retrim etc etc....

Some enthusiasts love exactly that and the owner seems to one them, it may well be his loss and someone elses gain, for them to enjoy all his hard work as the car still looks fresh, but weather he gets his price is another matter, in the end of the day market forces dictate, and the car will fetch exactly what its worth...

I have a price, in my mind of what its worth to me, and will say its intebetween what Akash was offered today and what its up for, so the price aint a million miles off....

Only WB SEC looks better imo....
