A day from the diary of a BMW driver...

What do you call a BMW driver who has grown up? A Mercedes owner.

And this is neither.

My private car is a BMW, my work car is a BMW and my work motorbike is a BMW...........with that and my picture to the left of your screen, mybe that just proves some of you lot right LOL:D:D:D

I've owned more BMW than MB and am a member of both forum's one thing I notice is that we are very quick to dis the BMW brand and driver yet normally BMW drivers are very respective of our marque and acknowledge both are different but have their good and bad points in terms of technology,

The new BMW 5 series F10 shows how right BMW have it whilst the New E Class W212 shows how wrong Mercedes have it and Vice Versa the W204 Class is a much better car than the 3 series BMW.

So my point is treat others as you would like to be treat yourself and unless you have owned a BMW in which case you can post an informed opinion I suggest we cut our other German brethren a bit of slack and acknowledge all is not bad with BMW and their drivers

I liked the 204 to drive as did I like the 212. Not had an F10 to comment, although the press, seem to really rate the 212s dynamics and comfort and rate it above the F10. The F10 is a much nicer looking car, but I'd wager a 212 the better driving one.

If you look at my other thread I drove them back to back in Germany last week, the F10 had 8 speed sport auto with paddles and active damping and drove like a dream. The W212 drove like the chassis was made out of Jelly and even with the seat on the lowest position I was still squinting under the roof line meaning I couldn't get the best out of the car I'll not repeat myself as the full report can be found HERE post #131

But the summary is the W212 is not in the same league as the F10

I have never owned a BMW ( and never will : the stereotypical image just does not sit comfortably with me , although I expect there are some nice drivers out there with those cars ) .

Besides a great many Mercedes owned over the years , I have had a couple of Audis and numerous VWs .

I still do not perceive the Audi image to be tarnished in the same way as the BMW one .

You are just a bit out of date thats all.:) Audi has defo stolen the beemer "I am a daft tw*t" award. Having said that there are some sights to behold with older bmw e36s.

Just like Flania says.
Many MB drivers are also BMW owners and why not? Some of the BMW range is better than the equivalent MB.
The stereotyping is almost as bad as claiming that all scammers come from Nigeria. :)

when i picked up my mates 202 we where on the motorway when we started to hear a very VERY loud whining noise, i was a bit embarresed as i help check it over.. all was ok when i looked over and saw a 60 plate 7 series and quickly realized that the 11 year old 202 was built far better than a brand new crappy bmw whining at 70mph sounding like it was going to pop.....there flagship model. LOL @ BMW.. we see it 5 mins later pulled over.... give me a 5.5 V8 212 over a f13 or whatever it is.... saying that give me a 1994 C180 Classic Over it..

I agree, I don't dislike BMW and think they made some pretty nice cars, the only thing I'm not keen on is thier manual gearboxes, I test drove an E39 M5 a while ago, 02 reg, nice car and the heavy clutch and gearbox reminded me of my first drive of an older friends old even then 80s 325i when I was 17, in auto form though, they make some pretty nice cars.

Its very funny diary passage that, it proper made my day. I have to say that i find most the current BMW drivers arent to bad now its just morons in Halfords spec e36's complete with a full aray of engine knocks that are keeping the bad reputation alive, Audi drivers are getting worse which is a shame cos i quite like Audi's but from my experiences the worst seem to be young Golf TDI drivers, they are so aggressive and treat every journey like a race. Also you hear them talk to there mates and they always have to say "ooo my Golf TDI is actually faster than the GTI mate" and "its really an Audi A3 underneath mate" i just want to walk up to them and shout get a grip!!
