Hello All,

I am considering buying a new A class auto W169 and cannot decide which engine to select.

Can anyone help me decide ?

I will be doing town and mostly A road motoring.

Is the extra power and torque of the larger engine worth the extra cost ?

Kind Regards

Best to test drive both and decide for yourself. I assume you want a diesel. I felt the A180CDI was just right and the benefit of the diesel it can easily be remapped to get more power / economy in the future if you wish to do so.

As said, the A180 CDI seems to be the best allrounder. The petrol engines in the 169 are a little thirstier than they really ought to be, and the 160 especially needs worked quite hard.

Thanks for the comments - I am only considering the petrol verion of the A class.

By the way npuk - do you think the Thermotronic A/C controller works well ? I see you have it on your A Class ?

Yes climate control works great no problems with it.

I have the smaller petrol engine and find it perfectly adequate for the car - will go for the same next time around.
