Aerial map view on COMAND sat nav

Can you obtain an "aerial" map view (as in TomTom) in the latest COMAND sat nav?

You can with the latest yes, the integrated COMAND (as in the new C) and the COMAND APS Plus (as in CLC or SLK) should do it.

You mean "bird's eye view"? That is available on the W221 also and the NTG 2.5 Navi unit now comes with the W211 too.

Hi I am new to the forum - but as well wanted to have this 3d view - I own a Mercedes W211 (E200K Avantgarde Facelift -May2007- VIN : WDB 2110411 B 175289) equiped with a comand (Part No. A211 820 41 97 Manufactured 2007) and I use the APS2008 navi disc - NO 3D (bird's eye) view. Is there any firmware update that I am missing .
I have seen some photos but I can not find any more info. Does anybody know anything about it ???

As far as I know, bird's eye view is not available for the 2007 model Comand, not even through SW update. The new NTG2.5 device is a completely different animal and you cannot expect the same functionality from an older device.

I just upgraded my Merc with the comand and the philosophical question now is : DO we throw everything away and start allover with a new upgrade ???

The R230 SL DVD based system with V8 maps also seem to give Birds Eye. I wonder if the 220/215 does as-well. The E class with V8 does not.

My E-Class (An E200K- May 2007) with all the latest Navi does not do it either - Hope the bring out an upgrade soon !!

Yes, you would not only throw away the current Comand HU and the Navi processor at the trunk but some other stuff too. Most experts do not see this a feasible option for a car equipped with the older Comand but of course anything is possible if cost is no issue.
