AMG Factory and Alpine Tour

So, we made it to Ludwigsburg about an hour ago. First refuelling at Düren this morning showed this:
Actual brim to brim calculated out to 27.6mpg and the journey included the usual stop/start on the M25 yesterday and the same on the Brussels Ring today. Not too shabby.

Lots of traffic, roadworks and other restrictions means that there hasn't been much opportunity to open the car up, but the leg from Düren to Ludwigsburg did provide for a couple of 140mph+ bursts and the E63 achieved 26.3mpg at the last fill-up. Who says 5.5L V8's have a drink problem? :D

Just waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive and the festivities will begin!

Me, Don and Ginge just arrived at the Nestor Hotel.......Ash will be here in about 20min (wrong turn Ash as he's now known ) Acid and the MSL Crew will be another 30min after their own tour of the Amsterdam sights :p

I averaged 19.2mpg and only managed a quick blast up to 192mph just after Düren so not too bad considering :)

Checked in now so meet you in the bar near Reception Phil in 2min :thumb::bannana:

Sounds awesome guys!!

Good job I didn't book the car only started again today :S

So... Everyone's here safe 'n' sound (Acid & crew's brush with Amsterdam's constabulary not withstanding)

Lots of tired people now eating dinner. Chicken for you, Chris? :D

Today's the day! 10 o'clock muster at the hotel

Ash's windscreen cleaning service swings into action

And at Affalterbach in the parking spots reserved for the Britishers

I was in the Customers reception area starting my visit when a load of loud sounding AMG's arrived. Can't say it went unnoticed... :D
I had a great visit and I hope the group also before going on for the Alpine tour. I can't say the traffic helped when driving south on the Stuttgart-Singen 81 autobahn as I only manage to hit 240kmh before having to pile on the brakes for slower vehicles. :(

Nice one Ash the car is looking gleaming.......especially considering you have been gunning it on the Autobahns

looks great

That S Coupe looks great, inside and out :thumb:.

Simply fantastic 5 nights and six days on the road, covered just over 1900 miles of pure joy, highlights of the trip, well there were a few.

Following Don on the Autobahn glanced down to see the needle just touching the 160 MPH stop, thankfully traffic ahead meant we had to lift, yes I have never gripped a steering wheel so tight.

Again following Don up and over a mountain as darkness fell, wasn't planned to night drive but the German spelling and me inputting to sat nav in English caused a bit of a problem till the penny dropped.

Seeing the look on Chris's face "well who doesn't carry a spare supercharger pulley"

Seeing the MSL boys in action doing the above with a socket wrench and trouser belt.

The twisty sections through the Alpine Route, the roar of the V8's through the trees, and the Mrs trying to capture some video, and she only swore once on tape, must be a converted petrolhead.

And lastly what a fun bunch to be around, great days and fun nights, thanks guys and girls.:D

It was a great few days :thumb:

Highlights for me:

Being pulled over by Customs at the EuroTunnel :dk:.....not even left the UK! Was a little worried when they asked me to step out of the car as they were placing their latex gloves on  Took one (or two) for the Team and off I went :o

Watching Sarim and Spike work their magic changing Supercharger Pulley on my car at a petrol station forecourt with no real tools. Excellent to have MSL on the tour

The drive with MSL, Ash and Don to Fuessen. Pure drivers roads with plenty of winding turns and forest runs :D

The drive from Fuessen to Berchtesgaden was a great experience as was the Hotel

Fantastic food, beer and company.......see you again for the next one :thumb:

Acid:that's a great camera you have - it cleans your car! (And makes it quieter ;) )

Tony: glad to hear you made it home ok.

Chris: Hope the CLS gremlins get excorcised soon.

Ash:Your car needs cleaning :D

Don: Hope you made it to France ok.

Here's where we went today

Great to be back home ... I think I've piled on half a stone from all the German fine dining establishment, Lol!

Thanks to everyone who helped making this happen & joined in the trip , great company & barrels of fun & laughter.

Special thanks to Chris & Phil for showing us all ( first time European travellers )the ropes & routes, amazing sites & scenery!

I actually got a real feel for the car & picked up some real good tips on those windy roads... A Complete exhilarating AMG Experience for many I must say. Thanks Chris & Don.

Highlights ..

1. MSL ... European Breakdown service- I don't think anyone could of fixed Chris car the way these boyz handled it at roadside! Big respect! :thumb:
2. Alpenstrasse trip with Phil & the gang. Paddle shifting through those windy rounds was pure AMG fun! :D
3. Finding out that my C63 , can't keep up with any of the modded cars on tour! - I need a remap!
4.Chris pitstops with Snicky snacky snoo's :D
5. The evenings wining & dining with the team.
5. Finally hearing a Smart car that left Chris standing on the Autobahn.. Priceless! :bannana:

Looking forward to arranging another trip soon & see some more members jump onboard.

Finally back in the UK after a "little" extension to the AMG trip

What a fantastic trip with a great bunch of people, great roads and great company :thumb:

I think most of the trip highlights were mentioned, but one for me was that when Tony and I (and Phil) got separated from the rest of the group couple of times, we thought we were far far behind everyone, only to arrive at the destination to find that we were the first ones there :D

Calling up Chris and him telling him that Tony had a spare supercharger pulley  and hear the surprise in his voice :D
