Any Evoque owners?

Wasnt the evoke desinge by Victoria Beckham...not sure how much street cred that takes away from the model!!! (or oes it add???)

Mocas - I have no exp of the model, however a good friend of mine had a look at it soon after the launch and didnt like it. He's a farmer an has a land rover and an E class. He was looking to replace the E.

Pete

I had an Evoque until recently. I did a Carpool article for Pistonheads a little while ago; here's what I thought (and what others had to say): Evoque Carpool

I love that colour scheme. Changes the entire look of the car. Great article.

I have spent a fair bit of time in one TD4 Auto Prestige and for me its all the car you will ever need, my sister was looking to replace her 59 plate Freelander which had been faultless.

I will be having one i am just going to wait a little until the deals appear and the waiting lists are a little lower.

I believe Mrs Beckham had a hand in specifying some of the "interior design themes", and some of these are (IMHO) best avoided. They have names Spirit, Ambiance, Vibe and Couture (hint there) - which I think may have been leftovers after she had named her children. I shall be plumping for "Element" with dark grey oak trim, which is probably the most boring but also the most tasteful - basically a combination of Cirrus (pale grey) and Lunar (black) leather.

Any idea as to why your friend took a dislike to it? I can see why it wouldn't make a good replacement for an E-Class estate, if that's what he had.

Not sure there's much of a waiting list any more - lead times seem to be down to just the normal 10-12 weeks for a factory order, with some models being held in stock if you're not too fussy about the precise spec (unfortunately, I am...).

Deals do seem to be thin on the ground, though. I was hoping LR would offer their Advance Payment option, whereby you put down a ~50% deposit, and then pay the balance after two years, interest-free. They were doing this on the Freelander and RR Vogue a couple of years ago, but they clearly don't need to on the Evoque.

The salesman was singing the praises of their "low-rate" 8.9% PCP over three years, but when I scratched the surface I found this involved paying - wait for it - £7300 in interest over the term, and that was with a maximum-allowed £13,900 deposit up front. And unlike MB, they're not offering any "deposit contributions" to sweeten the deal. Needless to say, I won't be taking up his offer.

Stratstone are doing their own version of the Advance Payment deal, but it isn't interest-free and in any case, it's only available on the poverty-spec Pure edition.

So, it looks like I'll be raiding the piggy bank instead...

That's why i opted for the SLK this time purely the deal was shocking on the RR last year.

There is no way I would be paying anywhere over 5% on any finance product

I wince at anything over 2%. :o Interest-free works for me where it's available, provided the purchase price hasn't been hiked (either directly or indirectly) to compensate.

You have made me look at them again and I have come to the conclusion I really want one.

This is what i would go for:

Where are we proposing to hold this rather bizarre sounding RRGTG?

We could make a day of it and you could come coursing with me and my itinerant friends?

I'm sure you'd both have a ball.

Seeing as you're outnumbered, I'd suggest somewhere in South Bucks. Besides, I'm pretty sure the Evoque's sat nav doesn't come with maps covering anywhere north of the Watford Gap...

Lots of itinerant friends in South Bucks who would really love those nice big alloy wheels.

I think the Evoque has a special sat nav for Cheshire too, Mocas.

Thanks for responding. Just interested in general ownership experiences really, particularly in terms of those old Land Rover bugbears, reliability and build quality.

Just wondering what it might like in the longer term.

In the medium to long term, it will likely suffer build quality and material quality issues, like my Discovery 2 (TD5).

However the Evoque does not have the massive over-engineering of the main LR product range. This normally means a well-maintained Discovery/Defender/RR refuses to die. They just get progressively tattier! I expect Evoques will die off much faster.

So far I've owned LR's for 14 years and driven them on (or to) 4 continents.

Joking aside, the Evoque has really grown on me and I think in the last ten years or so LR are now making vehicles that are the top of the certain sectors;

Want the daddy of 4x4s? Buy a Range Rover.

Want the pimp-daddy of 4x4s? Buy a Range Rover Sport.

Want a seven seat luxury 4x4 that thrives off and on road? Buy a Discovery.

Want a luxury 4x4 but without the bulk? Buy a Freelander.

Want a luxury 4x4 with that little bit more style & luxury than its contemporaries? Buy an Evoque.

Want to moan about crop prices and oiks on your land? Buy a Defender.

I remember cycling out to Little Britain Lake with a friend of mine when we were teenagers (can't remember why we chose to go there), and being bemused to see what can only have been an itinerant drive his pony and trap right into the lake, apparently by way of giving the beast a bath. I seem to recall he'd arrived from your side of the tracks... :)

And a boot tailored to accommodate onyx occasional tables, no doubt. :p

You may recall I had a Range Rover Vogue for a couple of days last year, and while I loved that too, it was just a too big for my needs (and for London). The Evoque seems to capture the essence of Range Rover in a more sensibly-sized form (although I still think it's too wide).

As for badge appeal, you're talking to a Škoda owner here!

Which areas did you find to be poorly made, ***?

The new MK4 Vogue has been released now and is meant to be absolutely fantastic-I've only seen one in the flesh though, I had a MK3 version and can relate about the size at times, although it's still my favourite of the LR range.

Just wanted to let you know that the new Sport is out next year if it isn't an urgent upgrade, a good compromise between the Evoque and Full Fat in terms of size plus will come packed with more goodies and off road ability than the Evoque if that's your thing although I don't know why someone would risk a £50+k car off road:dk:.

At local cattle market a while ago and talking to some farmers when an Evoke came into the car park. I asked if they fancied one over the Japanese cab things they all drive and the answer from one very ruddy faced farmer was "Lad I would rather be seen climbing out of a sheep" !
Summed it up nicely really .
