Any Evoque owners?

If the Evoque's too wide, how about Vauxhall's offering- almost a personalised advert for you (and no doubt not the 1st time this has been mentioned on the forum)...

Check out LR's new future line up!

Am I alone in thinking it is a very silly looking car? That flattened roof line looks both out of proportion and that it is merely a "me too" response to the current fad for quashing the rear a la the Scirocco and the Astra. The roof spoiler looks like an add on out of the Halfords boy racer catalogue.

It's a lifestyle SUV - it's meant to look different from the rest. For those who want a car of conventional proportions, stick with rest of the LR range. LR have done well to define a new category of car. Go back 10 years and the thought of a 2wd lifestyle SUV would have been laughed out the boardroom.

See #24.

The guy from whom I bought my Volvo. Had 2 Evoques for sale. My wife asked ate they as good as they look. He said no. In his opinion they were over priced. His two were already spoken for but he could get them at a discount. One if the two had had steering problems. His view was buy one, and move it on in 6 months. Almost no loss. But never keep one beyond the warranty.

That was April 2012

Thanks to all for your thoughts on this.

After a bit of a whirlwind weekend of brochure browsing, spreadsheet crunching, visits to dealerships and much rumination, I have today placed my order... for a Yeti. :D

Despite having had my head turned by the Evoque, I'm now pretty sure it was the Yeti that I really wanted all along, and it leaves me free to scratch another itch (negotiations in progress).

You know, re reading this thread, it occurred to me to bring up the new ML that I had as a loan car the other day, I'm the first to admit I'm a big Range Rover fan but thought the ML was a really impressive car, and if you specced it with the Off Road pack(low range gearbox, adjustable air suspension, locking diffs, Hill Descent Control and adjustable off road modes) I would put money on it not being a million miles off the ability of most LR products. The only thing I would say against it is I find the front end a bit bland compared to the previous model and I'm not sure about having to mess around with AdBlue, but if it was a choice between an RR Sport and an ML I would pick the ML in a second.

I see that Skoda have just anounced that they are doing a Laurent & Klement Yeti with lots of extra kit....is this the one you are going for?

My wife bought an ML250 Bluetec about a month ago. We replaced a Nissan X-Trail which was 4 years old.

We considered the Evoque alongside quite a few cars, but the luggage space was just too small - we need to accommodate a family of four (with teenagers) and luggage.

We have been very pleased with the M class so far...

I think I'd have just about anything in preference to an RRS. :p

I like the proper Range Rover the most but to be fair to the RRS I don't think it's a bad car in itself, it just suffers a severe image problem because of the people that usually buy it.

I was really impressed with the one I drove, out of my price range but a lovely car.

I believe Mrs Beckham had a hand in specifying some of the "interior design themes", and some of these are (IMHO) best avoided. They have names Spirit, Ambiance, Vibe and Couture (hint there) - which I think may have been leftovers after she had named her children. I shall be plumping for "Element" with dark grey oak trim, which is probably the most boring but also the most tasteful - basically a combination of Cirrus (pale grey) and Lunar (black) leather.

Any idea as to why your friend took a dislike to it? I can see why it wouldn't make a good replacement for an E-Class estate, if that's what he had.

Well, its been a while since the actual event, but I remember him saying that it wasnt big enough and not impressed with the interior. He's going for another E - estate again! Next time I speak to him will find out if there was anything specific that bugged him and let you know (i significant)

Pete
