Any of you London boys affected by the Olympic traffic chaos

I'm finding the Olympics traffic management really awful. I've had to park in a second carpark and walk a lot further...it now takes about 8 minutes to get into the office instead of about 2.

At least the rubber gloving has stopped now.

Exactly. A phenomenal amount of planning has gone into this is, and any "chaos" that results will largely be due to people having buried their heads in the sand for months on end, before finally panicking at the last minute.

A bit like blokes and Xmas shopping then :p

Took a day off yesterday and took the family to the beach volleyball on the tube. Pretty quiet in both directions.

Plus a very pleasant walk to Horseguards Parade and back with the roads virtually closed off to normal traffic.

So...it didn't come to pass. The Oxford Street traders are complaining about how unusually quiet it is. People are staying away because of all the doom and gloom leading up to the Limpix.

The London commute has been a pleasure. Kids holidays plus the Olympics has meant extremely light traffic. The only place I was slowed down was a couple of miles out where they had taken a lane out to reduce inwards traffic flow.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that traffic around Central London is actually quite good.

An Oxford Street shopkeeper was interviewed today on Radio 4 and complained that this is the quietest it has ever been 'round this time of year - apparently people were told to stay away from Central London during the Olympics, and stay away they did.

So - so far so good :thumb:
