Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

The Mayor of Wolverhampton drove a Maestro, and then upgraded to a Rover 400!

Classy!

DH1 was the mayor of walsall car

Regards Mike

Wolverhampton runs two civic cars: a Jaguar XJ (JDA 1) and a Chrysler Grand Voyager. I'm guessing DA 1 must have been sold off long ago, hence its migration onto more modest metal. May even have been 'retained' by a previous incumbent when he left office; wouldn't be the first time this has happened, though they wouldn't get away with it nowadays.

AN O1L on an old Merc.

2 XKR on a Volvo.

A few more from various parts of Westminster over the past few days:

V 101 on a Rolls-Royce Phantom (apparently belongs to the owner of BAC double glazing)
1 OT on another Rolls-Royce Phantom
1 TPB on yet another Rolls-Royce Phantom
URX 1 on a Range Rover
YVU 1 on another Range Rover
1 RTV on an Audi A8
37 A on a Bentley
AC 50 on Mercedes-Benz CL
S1 YCO on Mercedes-Benz E class estate
38 NJ on BMW motorbike

Isn't it ELV 1S rather than ELV 15.

Yup.
And here's the other one

why are there so many M3 plates on X5s?

Maybe because someone buys an M3 and a fancy plate to match, possibly with their initials. They have children and need a family car, but still want something a bit special, and so get an X5. They're plate still carries their initials and so fits nicely on the X5 too. Besides they wouldn't mind the new shape M3 in a couple of years when the child seats have long since been banished to the rafters in the garage.

Not so unrealistic?

A good friend keeps his cars for a long time, as do I, and he has a silver M3 and a silver X5, sort of the arch nemisis of our silver AMG and silver ML. :D

G 1 on a Rolls-Royce Phantom coupe.

It looked very nice although it's a bit big.

I've seen DA1 around Wolverhampton. I assume the owner may be Welsh? It was originally on an Austin Maestro for years, and latterly on a Rover 200/400. Its probably quite valuable if you're a Welshman.

OK, seems DA 1 actually belongs to the chairman of the Wolverhampton Civic Society.

G 1 on a Rolls-Royce Phantom coupe.

Excellent sighting! I mentioned a while ago that it was after failing to persuade the owner of G 1 to part with it that the Lord Provost of Glasgow secured the issue of G 0. G 1 now belongs to the Gillespie Mining Group, along with: G 2, G 3, 4 G, 5 G and 6 G. Quite a collection.

Some more recent spots:

1 FMG on a Rolls-Royce Phantom (hails from Bayswater)
DK 24 on a Range Rover
32 KD on a Jaguar XK
ROE 2 on, er, can't remember :o

Also saw what looked like NOW ME on a BMW 6 series; turned out it was actually N8 WME with dodgy spacing and boltage...
