Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

In Derby there is B7 TCH on a c3 pluriel ?? Very nice!

and Rolls Royce (Based in Derby) use a phantom with the plate RR03 ONE

And a red beetle with B3 CKY

But the best is an E class i see with M4 JOR (i wish it was Johns car)

Mine is G3 MDO after my mrs who is called Gem and her surname is doherty. so my plate should read GEM DO' :thumb:

Many black cabs in London have plates with the last three letters either CAB ot TAX, but I thought the one I saw the other day was particularly nice: H15 CAB

Saw this one today:

Not quite 100 MPH though.... out by one letter

Besides that, it's a beautiful example of a CE. :thumb:

100 LPH used to belong to Lord Samuel of Wych Cross (the former Harold Samuel, founder of Land Securities), who died in 1987. I wonder if the plate has remained in his family.

100 MPH, on the other hand, has long been associated with Bristol Cars, and could often be seen on their press cars, or gracing a model in the Kensington showroom. How odd, then, to find that it is now on a 2008 Fiat 500. I think they still have MPH 100, but another of theirs, MPH 100L, is now on a 1974 Ford Escort.

Perhaps a post is in order regarding manufacturer-owned plates? I know that Aston use AML (Aston Martin Lagonda) on their press cars, Vauxhal use VXL, Renault use REN, and so one... is a list coming up?

Here's a few I'm aware of:

Aston Martin: 1 AML

BMW: 1 BMW, 5 BMW, 100 BMW, 518 BMW, BMW 518

Ford: used to have 1 FMC (not sure whether they still do)

Jensens often used to carry plates in the "EA" series that covered their Midlands base. Similarly, Triumphs often carried KV registrations.

MG: MG 1 used to belong to John Thornley, who was closely associated with the company.

Nissan: M1 CRA

Rolls-Royce Motors: RRM 1, AX 201, 100 LG, 20 TU, 1200 TU, 1800 TU, 1900 TU, 3500 TU

Rover: ROV 4 (now belongs to BMIHT at Gaydon) Rover also bought numbers 1-20 in the H_ ROV series.

HR Owen: HRO 1, HRO 1N, RR 1

Stratton of Wilmslow: AMG 1, 1 AMG

The main UK importers also often buy up cheap age-less plates to use in adverts. They used to go for "reversible" numbers (such as 181 UAX) so that they would still look OK if the image was flipped for LHD markets, but this trend died out long ago.

The summary vehicle description is supplied by the DVLA
for registration number KAM135H
Make FERRARI

So this one looks genuine...

As for telling whether the car is genuine, often Ferrari replicas are based on Toyota MR2's. The usual give away (apart from the size & width of the car) is the positioning of the front headlights...

Amazingly, I am the owner of the car (My name is KAMLESH - lucky i have an uncommon name).

I am a part time car trader based in Stevenage and the car is actually up for sale. The car is the REAL DEAL, Ferrari 360 Modena, one of the first in the UK, so i believe.

Check out site if you want, my son made it: Ferrari 360 F1 Modena (1999) – £50,000 | Brookhill Motors: Used cars in Stevenage, Hertfordshire

i saw a nice one today.

KAM135H (KAMLESH) on a yellow ferrari.. though it could have been a kit car on a Peugeot or toyota mr2,,

any checks on this? as the exhausts didnt line up

Well spotted though about the exhausts, i saw the same thing after I had it serviced.

Going back to company vehicles :

JCB (of Uttoxeter, Staffs) have alot of cars with JCB on them
TC Harrison (local ford dealer) have countless TCH plates
And Parkway Volkswagen of Derby have 33 VW and 35 VW

Infact my Golf GTI has a good plate and its not even private. K206 BHP (Just looks good and everybody remembers my plates on both the merc and the GTI)

JCB have the consecutive numbers from JCB 1 to JBC 10, plus 12, 14, 17, 36, 52, 79, 123, 751 and 781; plus 4 JCB, 8 JCB (and possibly 1 JCB). The company also owns APB 1, GY 31, JNJ 78, MEG 10 and THA 1.

Parkway would have picked up those two VW numbers at DVLA auction in 2004. In total, DVLA have sold 33 VW plates since the auctions began, raising just short of £125,000.

And your Golf's number plate really ought to be on a Peugeot... ;)

55 KK on something this evening on way home. Looked impressive but not sure what it was apart from white - I think! Was very dark.

I've wanted a Lotus Esprit Turbo since i was a little boy watching an Esprit go under water in the Bond movie, it was my dream car with pictures on my bedroom wall and all that.

In my later years, i'm 46 now i had the good fortune to be in a position to buy one i waited two years until i found a totally unmolested 1991 red Esprit.

The "as sold" condition mattered to me because these cars over the years tend to be modified, i didn't want that!

To the point, my ideal Esprit came with the number plate J4 TBO, the J is correct for the year 1991 and the TBO because the car is a turbo, uncanny chance is this perfect car for me has my name "Tony Bones".

J4 TBO, how lucky am i.
