Is there a way to check the plate history, e.g. When was it bought, how much for, how many owners, etc.?

That's something I wanted to know about my plate that I have owned for the last 6 years but when I asked I was told no by dvla.
Don't know if that's the current answer as it was a year or two ago I asked and they gave me the reasons of data protection, it would take too long and too many resources.
I know that all marks registered before 1970 in London have been destroyed..
Not sure this is correct.
I see on a daily basis, registration marks far earlier than 1970.
A 911 on a bright orange 911 being followed closely down the M26 by a gorgeous red Ferrari 458.
The vehicle details for WFN 7 are:
Date of Liability30 07 1986
Date of First Registration27 11 1975
I presume the owner is patiently awaiting the day when the DVLA will allow a registration to be transferred without requiring the donor vehicle to hold a current MoT. Me too.
Just a thought, what would happen if the owner decided to scrap the vehicle, would DVLA allow the number to be kept by the last owner?
Presumably not, and it would be resold.
