Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

FAL1C on a Renault 16 and TOW1T on a tow truck, both in Nottingham some 30 years ago. Recently saw P155 OFF on a moped in Shefford, Beds. There's a customised Harley Davidson fairly local to here with HE11 ANG. (Yep, he's a member of that club). My late dad told me that Fiona Richmond once had FU2 on a Triumph Stag. My initials used to adorn the Northampton civic Jag limo... NH1.

Come to think of it, my Merc has S108HNH or 'SIOBHN H' for anyone with the name Siobhan and a bad eye for detail..... could be up for sale if the price was right...

I used to work with a guy who's male partner had an old Austin Cambridge/Morris Oxford with the plate TOY 130Y....

Complete 801LOX because plates can't make the vehicle appear newer.

Last of the Farinas would be c. 1970/71, whilst Y reg ("Austin Ambassador, Y reg") was '82/'83.

PET 70Y Yellow LAMBORGHINI

Stuck in very slow moving queue of traffic.
He couldn't resist blipping the loud pedal every minute or two. :D

Not quite as simple as that _there was a period when you got a date plate according to when you registered the vehicle not the date of manufacture. Hence you got a lot of 50s Yank imports with T V and W etc registrations. Dont know when this practice was discontinued and whether these were subsequently registered but it could hae been possible.

Definitely correct.
I had a 1971 mini that was HAC 872N
Imported from Sweden iirc.

True, there was a period when that happened for imports.
In fact, a friend has an ex-MOD LR 101 and that's an X or Y reg.

I dont think it happened solely on imports in the days when officialdom didnt rule the universe. A relative drove a 60s Minor on a Y plate for many years. My mate at uni had a 67 Anglia on an H plate and there were several other anomolies around in the 70s and 80s. Whether these cars had to be reregistered if they survived when the rules changed I dont know.

AC64 BMW on my girlfriend's hall table

(AC - my initials - but I'm still waiting for paperwork from DVLA before it can go on my BMW)

I think this thread is getting a bit mixed up with Deane x's thread on what members own and vice versa.

Today on a Range Rover and spaced thusly CS 10WRY - a fan collector or relative maybe?

Seen today on the A14 near J13, OW07FUN. Vehicle was part of a fairground convoy, plate was spaced out to say O W07 FUN.

Thought that was quite fitting!

HYUNDAI - S14 NTV

Spaced and with a bolt to read S1AN TV didn't see the driver.
