Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

1 YB on a black G Wagen knocking round Preston, Lancs. AMG I think, 5 point something in numerals in chrome on the back to denote engine size but I missed the exact figures.

AE in Belgium

Having lived here for a while and unable to break the school-boy habit - amongst others - I've kept an eye on plates.

A while ago they started selling personalised ones, though I doubt there's a used market because the State like to control anything that might make a profit.

A few years ago they simply added a number one to the front of all new issues so that they could start again as the numbers had been used up. Simple.

Until then you could always get a rough idea of the age of a driver or owner by the number of letters/digits. Nearly all had six, but if you saw a five it would usually be a senior, and a four a very senior, and a few times I've seen three's - moving very, very slowly. Wide berth stuff.

Today I saw AE on a new looking ML.

Never seen that combo. I'll ask some of the boys when the footy is over, but it's an odd one.

Every time you sell a car here it must have a new MoT, and go for it with a trade plate or trailer.

Cheers,

Paul
