Funny you should mention that . . . As I was overtaking a Mundano / Tuesdeo, the other day, I noticed there was a very bright green LED display on the bottom of its RVM . . . and if it was distracting me through the slightly tinted glass, goodness knows what it must have been doing to the driver . . . what's that all about !

Do Jaguar do a dimming mirror for the XK8? if so that might work. Actually saying that, there is a good chance that the part would be derived from Ford anyway.

thanksTan, You might be right. I have just finished tapping into a speed pulse wire going into the dash cluster and whilst taking the car to bits (my wife doesnt know!) I noticed some sort of black control box clearly marked with Jaguar. I shall make enquiries tomorrow (well later today now actually !)

Shude, I tried to get hold of an auto dimming mirror today at my stealership, when the parts guy eventually managed to locate the part number which matched the one you posted, it's blocked by mercedes and not available.

Bummer...

The part number I gave you was a B* accessory number, it's possible that they could stop selling it under that number, but the actual mirror should still be available with an A208* number. I will find the number for you!

It's ok Shude, the parts guy was really helpful and has located a mirror for me in a dealership in Stockton, it's on it's sway to me right now.

Oh dear, does this mean I have to go and remove the one from my car?! It has a 208* number on it because it's a factory installed item, not an accessory part. If people are willing to wait I also have the chassis number for a w208 CLK55 AMG facelift, which was fully loaded, probably has a grey RVM which is dimming (may have other features on it too).

Mine is also grey, if anybody needs me to check the part # . . . not sure what it was originally fitted to.

B6-681-8612 is the one that I'm getting "Orion Grey" dimming model.

My dealer maintains that B part number is not valid. He quoted me 208 810 0217 plus colour code (grey or beige) at a cost of £173 +Vat

Maybe you could post the part number written on yours when you get it . My dealer suggested yours might have been "old stock"
