Auto dimming rear view mirror for w208 clk cab?

Anyone who wants one i have about 50 rear view mirrors at the moment (brand new)

£60+vat to anyone on here for the standard auto-dimming ones.

Hi all,

I'm about to make one of these mirrors my first mod (oh what have I started?). I pulled my dome light down and found there is no power feed wire in there waiting for me, so does anyone happen to know either what the part number is or where I can look it up prior to asking my dealer to order the wire for me?

Many thanks

You wont find a wire in the dome light, but a selection of empty sockets !

When you get the RVM, it comes with the wire and the plug - and there is only one socket that it will fit !

Let us know if you need any further assistance when you get it ! & Good luck !

**EDIT** - don't get one from your dealer . . . see previous post on here from V12.

When I did my RVM the plug on it was to big to fit any sockets in the dome light. Although never used the mirror I got was circa 1994 (eBay £50) my cars a 97. Anyway, should you need it, the nearest power supply is from the glove box light.

I would have said the nearest power supply is the dome light! There's a couple of fat power and earth cables going to it! That'd be my first choice! :)

Cheers guys. Protocol would seem to dictate a photo record of the installation as well, so watch this space...

Simon, it should not be hooked upto a constant live feed ideally.

The connector in the dome light, will enable to auto dimming not to work when the car has reverse selected and an interior light is on...

I should have said switched power supply. I couldn’t find one in my dome light so went for the glove box. I didn't want it live all the time.

oh yeah :o

I wonder how the domelight "knows" though, maybe it also has a switched power feed going to it from somewhere, there are a LOT of cables going to it! Either that or it's the notorious canbus striking again!

just completed a 200 mile journey with the new dimming mirror fitted and I have to say, worth every penny spent on it.........

Hi all!I know it is an old thread but I need to get a replacement auto dimming mirror and the dealer asks 450 euros for the spare part only. Do you happen to have any more mirrors or/and the instructions to fit it please? If not, do you know if it is possible to put the mirror and the electronics to a non auto dimming case ,because my mirror is ok. Only the plastic broke. Thank you in advance!

If the cabrio is the same as the coupe then you need to pull on the mirror BASE to remove it from the ceiling. It is held in by a pair of pins being pushed out by springs. It is NOT easy but comes away with a satisfying ping. Please don't pull on the mirror itself as it's likely to break. Fitting is easy, plug in and push back in place.
