I'm hoping to have the Comand unit in my W164 removed and replaced with an NTG 2.5 unit. I also want the existing iPod connection and 6 cd changer removing. Has anyone had similar work done in the North West area please ?

I too am in the north west and like you I had a NTG 2.5 retro fitted.
Its a superb bit of kit which I use a hell of a lot..
When i wanted mine fitting I bit the bullet and travelled down to Surrey for the day..
I also had my car recoded to show outside temp and gallons / distance remaining. Oh they also coded my wing mirrors to auto fold when I lock the door.
I highly recommend you contact these people and go for a nice long drive to visit them.. It really isnt such a big deal and you will never regret having it fitted by the best in the business for retro fitting COMAND and other electrical gadgetry to a Mercedes..
