Baby cars pictures

Will it make my wheels look like polished alloy like they should be, instead of the salt/mud colour they are?
Sorry, I don't think there is a filter to correct laziness! ;) :p

a high res picture (2560 x 1704) can be found here if it helps
Thanks! :)

I have a higher resolution version if you want (1280x1024).

I did the whole car on sunday (wheels included).
They were gleaming, but with no lacquer on, they look like crap after 1 day of rain.

A calendar is possible.

I need a pic of at least about 1200x500 (width is halved in the making of the pic!). That only leaves a 600 pixels wide picture. For desktop sized pics (1024x768) I would need a minimum sized pic of 2048x854. That is for desktop use, if we were going to print anything the resolution may need to be higher (I know nothing about printing photography).
Don't want much do I? :)

you are going to end up wanting a whole lot more when it comes to printing.

Print uses 300DPI so a 10" x 8" print is 3000 x 2400 pixels, if you are halving the size of an image then you are going to need at least 6000 pixels wide - I'm not too sure on the maths here but I think that equates to an 24MP camera (please correct me if I'm wrong :))

Resampling the images in photoshop or the like won't really work, the only semi effective way of increasing the resolution is to "photograph" the image and then recreate a larger file using 3D software - it's a drawn out procedure and there will be some loss of quality (not as bad as enlarging from desktop size to 6000 pixels wide) but the time factor becomes a problem.

Rather than using digital pix for the source it's far better to have 35mm slides for the originals as these can be scanned in at 4000 dpi which generates file sizes around 70MB per image, even though these are still "under size" for what we are really looking for it's a lot closer than the digital cameras most of us have. The downside to this method is also time and space - each slide takes about 10 minutes to scan and you can only fit 8 onto a CD. Medium format would of course be better but not many of us are going to have access to 645 cameras or their digital equivalent

Yes, I have got access to a slide scanner and yes I have the software (not neccesarily the time but I can try to find it if need be) to perform the scaling via resampling - assuming the original image is saved as a high resolution TGA or TIFF file (not jpg as that is prone to loss of quality unless 100% quality is used)

Thanks Andy!

If anyone thinks I'm going to go through that lot then they are very much mistaken! ;)

Had polished lips on when I bought it.
Gonna get them all re-done soon with lacquer on.
Hmm. They're polished lips as standard though, the AMG rims I bought brand new were fine and the lips looked great, someone must have used metal polish or something on yours!

The flowers are beautiful !!

p.s. do you do your lawn yourself or does Jeeves cut it ? :D

Well actually, thats where I work :) The grounds are lovely, especially in summer. We have japanese water garden and a huge patio overlooking a crocket lawn and best of all, our very own 9 hole golf course. So if anyone happens to be passing close to Gerrards Cross around lunch time (any day) and fancies a game then just PM me. I'm sure I could make the time.

Would it be too much to ask......?
Need a high-res pic if you want it to be anything like a decent size when finished! I was thinking of looking up some bimmers anyway, the aggressive styling makes the cute versions look so much funnier :D

Cheers Shude! :D
Yeah well you started the ball rolling!

I might have another go with yours actually, see if I can shrink the sideskirts and bumper bits to fit rather than just brush them out. All the newer ones I've done have been like that, not that anyone would notice of course

I know you've done a number of cute W202's but would the following piccie be suitable for the 'Shude babyising treatment'?
It would be perfect! I will do it later :)
