Bad day for me, engine cut out!!

To save wasting your very hard earnt Devon cash, a volt meter on pins 87 should show 12volt, the fuse on top may have gone or as earlier it could be dry jointed.

I am not 100% sure that this will cure it, the voltage check would tell all

Both part number options are still listed - one at £37 and one at £57 (ish).

Lift the flimsy plastic shroud behind the battery and use a torch to read the part number of the one fitted to check.

Remember the "P.05" code for another 5% off......

I know, I work for them!

It's ok, I spent the day with my horse and my broken car!:D

They didn't deliver to my house! :(

Hope you get your probs sorted, stop putting your thumb in the door when you shut it!

ok may not be the same problem but i had a running issue with my car, stalling when driving under 20mph and at low revs, cutting out when going round corners and roundabouts and high uneven reving genrally a cr*p drive.
I changed everyting i could think of, lambdas, maf, sparks, wiring loom, mot valve, another valve, camshaft actuator, had the ecu checked to no avail, 3 diffrent merc techs looked at the issue to no avail, even olly tried suggested a few bits, no change, went back to olly who checked it all over to find the car was in jap mode and looking for a part that does not exist on euro 3/4 spec cars, went to main dealer a £60 fix to re-adapt the car and a change of a fuse and no more problems. Get it checked on a star, and then go about fixing it, it could be something simple.

I do not believe this OVP is a fix for this fault,, it cost nothing to measure the voltage on pins 87

It could be the OVP or just a loose connection or the ignition switch.

Check to see whether wiggling the switch has any effect.

Thats exactly what was happening to my 220 te Gina.... remember... The guy that bought it said something about the throttle body or something.... use to cut out every now and again and idled irratically.

Did that cut when hitting bumps or just random poor running..??

just completely random..... had spent £1700 on an engine rebuild to rescue her from the scrap yard.... then a year later had new plugs and leads at £95 becuase she started to run funny..... When i sold her the guy who bought her revved the engine really high but it would rev to about the red line and drop then up and drop etc etc.... so would never go into the red.... he said it was somethng to do with the throttle..

Maybe.

But this is slightly different, it seems to cut out when traversing bumps..although the low idle could well be throttle body.

Hope not...£££££££

It could be the throttle pot wiper losing contact with the carbon track. a strip and clean may work.

LOL..... if it is i better keep my keys safe otherwise Gina will be taking my car to the garage and swapping the bits over.....

It is a well known fault in the trade that on Motronic the mechanism on the idle change over switch wears. This switch is built into the throttle body and most of us just file away a piece off the stop, to allow the switch to close.

Adaptation can be carried out by.

Battery off 10 mins
battery on,ignition on 10 sec
ignition off 10 sec
ignition on 10 sec
crank and start
