Here's a beautiful car .....

I've done a poll. There were too many cars to list so I've broken it down to marques first then when we have a winner, we'll vote for the car. You can vote for more than one Marque! Get voting!!

A late TI model sud. (my second Sud was this colour but the SC model)

That brought back some memories, one of my now ex-mates brother had one of these except in met black. Thinking about it i think that was the only one i ever saw in the flesh, it was a cloverleaf or something like that.

Every weekend it was up on axle stands due to the brakes.

what about Citroen?

Serious omission when you consider the DS :)

Andy

The forum only lets me have 10 categories so I chose those with the most entries. Sorry to disappoint anyone:(

Hmmm. I would vote Bugatti, for the sublime Atlantic, but they also build the Veyron, which looks like one of those Transformer toys.

I'd also vote Lamborghini for the Islero or Miura, but not the Diablo or Countach;
Maserati for the Ghibli (1966, not 1996), but not the Merak/Bora;
Jaguar for the SS100, but not the XK-E;
Alfa Romeo 8C 2900, but not the Alfasud

Two observations come from this:
1) I'm a classic nut through and through :D
2) No manufacturer has a monopoly on beauty (thank goodness)

It might be interesting to consider the designers of these beautiful cars, rather than the manufacturers.

Pininfarina, for instance, was responsible for pretty-well all the Ferraris, as well as several Alfas (duetto and 'sud included). Also, Maserati (the current QP as well as many older models), and the Jaguar F-Type proto, which bears a very strong resemblance to the XK8.

Likewise, Marcello Gandini and Giorgetto Giugiaro were responsible for their fair share of cars on this list.

You are having a laugh right. I thought you posted that for fun. Surely you were not being serious. Technically it was well advanced but beautiful - never.

As much as I like Mercedes, I cannot deny that Ferrari (Pininfarina) has probably built the most beautiful cars ever.

All you Bugati fans are being a bit quiet;)

In who's eyes?

I (and many others) would say that it was one of the most beautiful cars ever made, every line on the car was "right" it reflected the style of the period whilst looking futuristic - an absolute design icon. It may not have been fashionable like a Mercedes or Ferrari but it oozes style in a way that others can only dream of.

So, no I wasn't having a laugh and I wasn't following the flock saying just because it's red and Italian it must be beautiful.

Look at a Ferrari painted any other colour than red (or maybe yellow) and see if still has the same appeal - I doubt that most people would find it anywhere near as "beautiful" if it was painted metallic green.

Now think that the Citroen was introduced in 1955 and like the 300sl gullwing just how different and influential to future car design it was.

The DS was a car designed by an artist, architect and sculptor not by a computer and a wind tunnel

Beauty may well be in the eye of the beholder but you must be blind if you can't see it in the design of the Citroen DS
