Beware W140 owners wanting a new screen fitted!

It turns out that there are 2 different types of windscreen on an S class. And after removing mine whilst destroying it in the process, the fitter has discovered he brought the wrong one. There's a difference in length apparently.
He's taken the car back to the depot to be fitted with the right screen now, who knows when I'll see it again!
So if you need a new windscreen, make sure they check it before killing the old one!

I didn't know. I wonder was it with the facelift that the windscreen was changed?

Are you sure he didn't order a coupe one by mistake?

I'm not sure where it's fitted. It is something that could have been noticed with the use of a tape measure. I'm sure the fitter will be checking it in future.

I've still not got the car back or had a call about it. I don't think they realise that working silly shifts I need my car

If it is going to be away for more than a day , due to their incompetence , i would suggest to them that they might like to pay for a hire car for you ?

Wonder if it will be the old screen with 2 inches of duct tape round the edges ?

Haha! It's back, had to wait an hour and a half for it though and there's sealant on one of the trims inside the window.
