Ok, so just got my clay bar, I'm going to test the whole procedure out on an old Audi, before letting myself loose on the Merc, just need to know if my order is right, since I have a few things, and quite fancy using them all!

How its looking at the moment:

Snow foam
2 bucket wash
rinse
Iron X (never used)
rinse
Clay bar (never used)
rinse (or wash again?)
Dry
wax (im using Zaino at the moment, but want something to use with a rotary polisher, suggestions?)

Glass polish (never used)
Tyre dressing

I'm never that fussy about wheels, especially these multi spoke alloys, the power washer gets them clean enough for me!

This is the order I use;
1. Drive to disused petrol station.
2. Hand over 5 pounds to Kosovan / serbian / ukrainian ( or insert eastern European of your choice, they are all really very helpful in my experience)
3. Drive home with a (mostly) clean car.

Having said that my car is only worth a month's depreciation on yours so I probably wouldn't recommend my approach to you, sorry for the confusion.

My Personal way is the following for strictly washing the body of a car:

-Prewash lower half.
-Rinse.
-Snow foam car.
-Rinse.
-2BM.
-Rinse.
-Pre spray with iron x.
-Re-wash.
-Rinse.
-Dry.
-Clay bar with clay lube such as Megs last touch.
-Full ipa wipe down to remove clay sling and any polish oils in the paint.

The cars then ready for its pre wax cleaner and lsp:) Unless you decide to put a nano, hybrid or crystal lacquer protection. In which case you can apply straight from ipa'ed.

I completed Aeroman's C63 end of last year. So take a look at the write up in the link below, it may help you in the quest to make your car perfect:)

Your order is basicaly the same as mine except you need a polish before the wax. Wax or sealant is to protect, polish or glaze will give it the shine. Wax just needs putting on by hand as it is not abrassive so requires no working. You can how ever get some fairly good all in ones (polish and wax together) which will save a bit of time. All depends if you are looking for the ultimate finish.

All in one..

For a silver car, i like this sealant..

My previous favourite method down to a T!

Great, just what I needed, more stuff to fill the cupboard up with! I guess that sealant is basically the Zaino stuff -i've got this: http://www.zainoeurope.com/zaino/zaino-39-finishing-39-kit-with-z-2-pro/prod_24.html

so do I need to use a polish or wax before using that?

Hi,

You don't need ipa it just gives a true finish prior to polishing and ensures the paint surface is really clean. Also if your claying, it removes clay sling without marring the paint:)

god i don't know how you guys do it, keep looking out the window and thinking to myself "nah, not today..."

Too damn cold to spent such a long time outdoors, it's only 3ºC here and the brass monkey keeps trying to get back indoors. Maybe just a wash for now, to remove the rock salt until it's a tad warmer?

Fixed your post ;)

5 degrees over here, but I've just got a new puppy so can't really leave him for a long wash, and don't fancy having him in the car tearing it apart while I do!

I was thinking of getting the stuff ready for the post winter clean ( when is warms up !) if my memory serves me right wash ( 2 bucket method ) , clay , polish , wax then seal ? or is the seal pointless after waxing ? can it do any harm doing both ?

the only problem in doing mine is that hers looks so bad I will have to do both !

your list seems good
