Biggest Car Engines

I doubt many people could drive one after another to compare but it would be great to see members cars go head-to-head on a drag strip. We really ought to sort out an MBClub event at Santa Pod or similar.
You keep mentioning this, but really, it ain't going to happen!
No one in their right mind (or even the less sane amongst us 🤪) is willingly going to put their motor up against the mighty
Smart ForFour AMG Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Powered by Brabus

Drag strip at max revs will make the 156 and 157 seem much closer than on the street I would imagine......But people don't drive like that on the road where torque is king.

It would certainly be a formidable opponent for even the fastest member cars. I’ll be honest, the top fuel dragsters would be a little concerned lining up against me.

Sorry to be such a PITA, but.....
The engine temperature changes in flight so what sounds right on the ground can become over (or more likely under) compressed in the air.
How much of the above statement relates to the temp change? Which direction - hotter or colder in flight? How much would the additional rpm in flight affect this? Fair to summarise that higher rpm requires more compression?
The throttle response was excellent.
Can that be quantified? Eg, compared to other small 2T eg chainsaw/strimmer - as responsive when the throttle is cracked open? Able to hold a steady load at different throttle openings?

Pah! the mighty C250d S205 AMG Line Premium Plus laughs at the puny Smart ForFour AMG Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Powered by Brabus and sees off common and garden AMGs daily.

There’s our first grudge match at the MBClub 2024 Drag Strip Day! 🏁

You only have to look at the name of the C250d S205 AMG Line Premium Plus and how short it is to know that it’s no match for the other one - it’s not even a 125 Navi or Night Edition!

It's been a long time since I last flew a diesel but as I recall it's pretty much exclusively temperature that determines the compression setting required for smooth running. Hence the need to increase compression for a cold start (unless you use my trick of momentarily choking the carb with a fingertip to keep it running), then backing off compression as the engine warms up. If fully warmed up before flight the cyl. temperature will drop a little in the air due to increased airflow, so it has be be set fractionally over-compressed on the ground. I don't think rpm change in flight is a factor - if was then this would show up immediately in a dive, which I don't ever recall happening.

Throttle response is hard to quantify but I would say as good as a properly set up glow engine. Definitely able to run smoothly at lower throttle settings - this is a basic requirement for virtually all r/c flight.

A quick Google found this video on running-in and testing a much bigger PAW .49 (8cc), which may be of interest.

Thanks BTB 500. The info you have provided is a massive help to me - appreciated.
Still struggling to believe how that PAW responds to throttle. To my ears, that is as responsive as any small SI petrol 2T.

Hmm, I wonder if a F31 330i LCI M Sport Shadow Edition Black Series AMG Touring has a chance in that case🤔

It is only modesty that makes me keep the name short. You would quake in your shoes and be consumed with envy if I used the full name.

The last one I saw was disappearing (rapidly) in my rear view mirror.
The only explanation for that is the driver must have forgotten to remove the toast from the grille, thus impeding the airflow into the monsterous TwinPower Turbo.
