As many of you will know i've been having sets of wheels refurbed for some time by this company. I've recommended these chaps to alot of people of the years but i have found the recent level of quality appauling. I had 2 sets done 6-8 months ago.

http://www.wheelrefurbishing.com/

The 16 inch wheels were diamond cut. I am aware about the lacquer lifting but found the original wheels lasted 7 years before they were this bad!! When i rang in and spoke to Andrew i was fobbed off and told when the wheels were installed the fitter must have been careless and broken the lacquer. Well i fitted these myself and i'm extremely careful!! Well 2000 miles later and they are looking like $hit.

Now i can believe one set going wrong but i had the 18 inch SL 2 piece split rims redone by the same chap at the same time. The centres were done in a bright silver and the lips diamond cut. The paint in the cetres is peeling up from underneath, the lacquer is perfect but just look at the pics. The lacquer on the lips has gone hazy and is already lifting. The car has only done 1000 miles! All 4 wheels equally as bad.

I hasten to add that these wheels are washed every few days at the latest, no chemicals used. I refuse that the quality of the refurb is acceptable. I have basically been told that if i get them redone i will get a slight reduction in cost!!! I am extremely dissatisfied by the level of service i have received and recommend that you guys use another company.

hi klp..my wheels were diamond cut and looked worse than that when i got them, what i did was take of laquar with nitro morse then use 400 then 800 then 1200 wet,n,dry then lots of autosol or the polishing wax stuff and a buff for a better result its more of an upkeep because its not protected but will always look good..::))

The only thing that annoys me is that the wheels are in the same state as they previously were, but this time it took less than 8 months compared to 7 years!

If i knew it was this bad i would have had them polished.

Man they look bad

Now thats after 8 months and £400+, i'm not a happy man

why not give jaymanek a call, seem to remember he has something going with wheel refurb.

They look like a quality issue. The laquer lift is probably because the bolt holes weren't properly cleaned before laquering and the painted surface looks like they either didn't properly clean the alloy or didn't use etching primer.

I can't believe they won't honour some kind of warranty claim after such a short time.

The most they are prepared to do is offer me a discount on getting them redone again. And its like a 10-20% discount.

I will pop round and personally in 2 weeks and give him some serious abuse as this is about the 8th or 9th set of wheels i've had redone. Problem is normally i don't keep the car for 6 months so couldn't comment on previous sets!

I would get them painted but judging by his paint standard it may not be a wise idea. Both sets of wheels are getting worse

I stripped and laquered the lips on my rims and they lasted over two years before any lifting and even now they are A LOT better than KLPs rims.

on the 560 what is the trim the full length of the boot and round the lights.....or is thet standerd

I think its standard on the SEC.

I'm surprised that the AMG wheels have gone so badly on the face. No excuse for quality like that.

I'd have expected better from a mobile repairer, let alone BJV who appeared to be very thorough - ie, tyres stripped off and old finish properly removed?

Will

I was tempted to use this company as they're about the only people who will touch the two-piece BBS wheels I have on my Silver Arrow - not so sure now.

I had a set of 17" amg's refinished in sterling silver, very poor colour match and a year later the finish looks very poor.

It seems so unlike them and so totslly unlike them to rectify.

Very odd. I would visit them and explain and try and resolve. You have put a fair bit of work there way.

A visit in person with your car parked very visible across the entrance and pointing at the wheels while talking loudly enough for new punters to get the drift might work.

Worked for us in getting a VW garage to change some "blown" false-chrome trim on our Passat...I wish we had a video as we suddenly had a mob of suits wanting to give us coffee while they sorted it out (after a flat refusal - "wear and tear" - in response to a phone call).

Otherwise Pristine (MK) do a very good exchange service so you don't have to wait or lose access to your car - my 8-hole wheels on the 124coupe are fine after nearly 2 years. The guys prefer the exchange as they can program the refurbs to improve the cost/quality rather than working to tight time constraints while the punter is waiting for his car back....

I was just about to take my wheels in to them for a refurb. Not anymore!

I suggest you point them at this website/thread and let them see how much damage they are doing to themselves.

Rubbing the wheels down and spraying with a can of paint from Halfrauds would last longer than 8 months - shocking
