Apologies if this is an old question but I am new to this forum and cant find anything specifically for this problem.
I have a 2004 model C class with a prewired UHI phone kit in the armrest which lets you connect a limited number of phones via the appropriate cradle. The list of available cradles/phones are mostly fairly obsolete. Does anyone know of a way of connecting a bluetooth adaptor of some kind so that any bluetooth enabled phone can be used ?
It would seem that this would be a much more sensible way for Mercedes to go rather than constantly having to produce different cradles.
I have checked out Parrot and a few other places but cant find anything that fits the bill.
Any ideas ??
Thanks in advance.

Try searching for "bluetooth", if it existed it would have been posted about I'm sure :)

No pun intended? ;)

Good luck with your mods :)

thanks but a little confused

thanks for your help - it seems there is a fair amount of confusion about this particular issue. It has been suggested that part number B6 787 5837 is the bluetooth unit

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=19356

but a call to my local dealer (Merc Brentford) suggests otherwise.
According to them there is no bluetooth unit yet listed as a part.

So it seems that as yet this cant be done.

Slightly OT , but Mercedes Brentford don't know their **** from their elbow....

I made a special journey there to get a part for my alarm system ( having spoken to them that morning, when they assured me it was in stock ).... only to be told when i got there ' sorry they don't make that part any more , i don't know who told you that '

Idiots....

i couldnt say yay or nay to whether or not thats the bluetooth cradle , phoning any dealer about the phone stuff is an esgey convo as they don't wanna commit to an answer incase they get it wrong.

Quite a few of the cradles on there arent listed on their system , i saw that on on the picture of the new 2006 cradles and to me , it looks the same as the bluetooth one. Seems expensive enough to be the bluetooth one :D

Yes Merc Brentford can be a bit dozy perhaps I will try another dealer.
Having said that if you look at these 2 pics they dont really appear to be the same thing.

Nobody here can actually come up with a definite answer or actually has one of these units. They are not listed in the current merc accessory brochure or as far as I can see listed anywhere on the net. So unless someone can actually come up with one of these things I guess I`m a bit stuck.

I spent the better part of the last month looking for a suitable built-in hands-free solution for my E320 (W211) 2005 model with COMAND 2.5 This is the COMAND with the separate DVD navigation disc in the boot. It can also play DVDs including those filled with MP3s in the dashboard slot.

My current phone is a bluetooth-capable Palm Treo 650 PDA smartphone.

The car did not come with the Mercedes pre-wired UHI telephone kit. I enquired about a retrofit and was told that it would cost over £2000 and need at least a whole day's installation. This would only allow me to use a narrow range of phones-SE T610, Nokia 6230, 6310 and a few others. No bluetooth which means I can't use my current phone or most of the new phones available now.

I decided to go for a Parrot CK3100 which is a bluetooth kit with a small display which can be placed discreetly on the dash somewhere. It also comes with a mic and its own speaker which can be hidden in the dash. The best part is that it can do voice-dialing irrespective of whether that feature is available in your phone. You do need to put in voice tags for your contacts but this only has to be done once.

It will also transfer your phone book or let you send it by bluetooth if your phone doesn't sync automatically.

My installer was able to get it to mute the radio when I receive or make a call. I found a cable from connects2.co.uk which can connect the Parrot to the steering wheel telephone controls but we could not connect it to the fibreoptic cabling in my COMAND. It only works on COMANDs which do not use fibreoptic cabling.

I am very pleased with the current arrangement which cost under £250 for much better functionality than the Mercedes UHI kit.

This is the solution I adapted when I came to a dead end with the UHI option. I regard it as temporary solution pending bluetooth UHI with full integration with COMAND but it works very well and the voice option is excellent. The rest of the discussion is in a thread further down in this forum.

Bluetooth

I'm here in the U.S. and my dealer has been staying in touch with me since my initial post on this topic and has been trying to get the bluetooth puck from AWS, and today called me to say that he talked to AWS and the part will not be made available to dealers but will have to be purchased directly from AWS. Further, S-Class is getting preference in distribution. So I'm not able to get it, and if anyone wants it it may be a real hassle. Sorry for the news to all of us who wanted integrated bluetooth. Is there anything like this available in the UK or Europe? This puck was first posted on a Spanish MB site so I wonder who the manufacturer is? Any leads?

Check this out. It is a bit pricey! But if you want BT at all cost, then check this site.
Cheers

Just buy the Mercedes bluetooth adaptor.
